Well glad I missed that madness.

I was sure someone would Rickroll the Song Comp.

4/26 votes in so far. one song has received votes off everyone and is out in front, decent split with the rest and one song has raced to a runaway lead in the billy.

Only six songs still on donuts after six votes have been counted.

New Zealand researchers have restored the first recording of computer-generated music, created in 1951 on a gigantic contraption built by British genius Alan Turing.

Key points:
  • Turing's computer paved the way for synthesisers and modern electronica
  • Songs generated included God Save the King, Baa Baa Black Sheep, and In the Mood
  • Turing also played a role in cracking the Nazis' Enigma Code during WWII

The aural artefact, which paved the way for everything from synthesisers to modern electronica, opens with a staunchly conservative tune — the British national anthem God Save the King.
