You can see the headlines coming; Cats Arrive, Hawkins, N Ablett to solve world hunger, Cats installed as Flag Favourites etc etc.

Remember the last time we kicked a score anywhere near this big? Mid-'92, up at the GABBA.

And we all know what happened at the end of that year.

Please Geelong, don't get caught up in telling yourself how good you all are.

If someone said we were going to be 20 odd points up at half time of this years GF, I'd probably take that;)

But I see your point and am putting a lid on it well and truly!

Richmond were a rabble who only had 2or 3 players putting in. However you don't kick those sort of scores unless you've got plenty of talent in the team. When the midfield puts on the pressure they did today and give the forwards a 50/50 chance we will win a lot more games. Hopefully they will have there heads on right for the rest of the year and give 100%, that's all I ask.

Hopefully after the losses vs Hawthorn and North people won't start to get too excited after a big win vs a terrible side.

Thats Melbourne, Carlton and Richmond, all floggings as they should have been.......now comes the test in West Coast at home.

On a different note it is truly amazing the amount of people on the Richmond board, over 180 people compared to our 59 atm.....i feel sorry for Richmonf fans but it seems a lot are just itching to rub it in.

Anytime in AFL you kick a score of that type is a reason to be excited however to use a cricketing term, Geelong are Flat track Bullies and the big dogs are in town this week. 2 Solid wins in the next 2 weeks will see the team back in the Hunt for Sept Action .....
Is Egan hurt?????:thumbsu:

Unbelievable score to see in this era of footy, as a fan of over 30 years, i lived through the rollicking late 80's-mid 90's era and tonight was a bit like that.

True though, the win has to be tempered by the quality of the opposition, but kicking 35 goals really sets a sort of mark that the young Cats can know they can achieve, with teamwork and hard running. Many times we had blokes following the play to provide support in contests and in carrying the ball.

The next several weeks against the interstate sides is the acid test, but after last week calling for Thompson to be culled, maybe i need to eat humble pie. Perhaps this is like similar starts to good years for Geelong, such as 3-3 in 1989...0-2 in 1992, 1-4 in 2004. At least it's a sign that Geelong can play good attacking footy. Stick with this plan, and it might bear fruit.

It was truly a great win but to me it means nothing if we can't back it up by a great 4 quarter effort next weekend.

I'm keeping a lid on it... GO CATS! :thumbsu:

Spot on Jess!

I actually think there'll be more headlines blasting Richmond than there will be praising Geelong. At least I hope so.

You can see the headlines coming;

I saw:

"Tigers "cubbed" to death. Police hunting gang of men for cruel and unusual punishment"

or

"Police suspect Cats in Ben Cousins scandal - behaviour of highs and lows being questioned"

Sorry guys but after the week we just had being mauled left right and centre, im gona bloody enjoy this week.

We will be the toast of the football world until next sunday so i for one am going to enjoy it, i even started strutting at work tonight thats how happy i was. If next week we get brought back to earth with a thud then so be it, i'll deal with it then but as of now...

On a side note 60 goals from our seniors & reserves this weekend..who says we have no depth!

DAM ITS GOOD TO BE GFC

I have to agree, lets enjoy the win, but we are all after consistency. Lets play at that level, week in and week out, then i will be getting excited. Next week will be a good test, i hope we play well.

Jimmy Bartel for Prime Minister....

We kicked 35 goals, and over 200 points. I can get excited if I want to. Doesn't mean I will get ahead of myself.

exactly, that was such a comprehensive victory that it deserves to be savored and enjoyed. But that doesn't mean I now think we are flag favorites because we beat Richmond. Why do people make these statements like "Don't get carried away" like they think that gee that never occurred to anyone.

Enough with the Ben Cousins jokes. They're about as funny as a fart i an elevator

We would be saying the same thing if the cats had stuggled for the win, what would have been better for preperation for the eagles clash
  • A hard fought scrappy win against the tiges
  • Or the 100+ win we had last night

Good stuff Sarah.

I'm pissed at most on these panels, give the team a break. Picking a few players up for clangers, when they beat their opponents by 26 goals. That is just pure madness.

It was a fantastic all-round team effort, where they didn't lose focus even when up by 100, that's what is IMPORTANT here.

We do have a talented lineup, so look at it that way and think the glass is half full rather than empty. Be positive.

All I can say is from my current location - Mexico City - the result of this game came as one hell of a surprise when I checked the net. I must travel more often. I nearly dropped my beer when I saw the final scores. Hopefully the form continues.

Cheers!
