Here on BF for example: in the top RH corner next to search button there is a 'light globe'. If you click on that you can put your screen into night mode (reverse)So not the wee hours of the morning.

Checking my laptop, I can do the same with it. There is a night light in settings. I'll give it a go. Getting to sleep is generally not such a problem. It's staying asleep that troubles me. Returning to sleep is an impossibility though that realisation doesn't stop me trying every night. Trump supposedly only sleeps for 4 hours and so did Maggie Thatcher, but I am not sure that's company I want to keep. Here on BF for example: in the top RH corner next to search button there is a 'light globe'. It's much easier on the eyes. The white/blue screen is stimulating and actually effects your sleep.
You can also set your tablet and phone to go into night mode from say 8pm to 7am (go to settings)
Have you tried listening to an audible book? Works for me.Checking my laptop, I can do the same with it. There is a night light in settings. I'll give it a go. What about "white noise" like a rain vid on youtube? No I haven't. It might help to dispel unwanted thoughts. I will try it.
I have had a chronic sleep problem for 5 years which is getting worse. I sleep at best 3-4 hours, then when I wake I never get back to sleep, so lie awake from 3-4 am on thinking about everything negative that is happening in life. I rise between 8 - 8.30 am. I now fear going to bed because of the inevitable short sleep and waking hours that make the day seem something to be endured due its extra hours.
I have a doctor who rightly or wrongly over the years has prescribed several different types of pills within the benzodiazepine family which are now useless as sleep aids but I have become psychologically dependent on taking anyway. I don't abuse them but I do take them nightly. I am going to ask the doctor tomorrow for an anti-depressant to see if that offers some relief because the whole situation is becoming intolerable.
I cannot sleep in the daytime. I tried a private sleep clinic but was immediately sceptical of the approach and never returned. The one thing I did take away and implement was the advice to go to bed late e.g midnight and beyond. I have discussed this problem before on bf and got lots of thoughtful advice but none of it worked. My ability to read and write has become affected as my concentration levels are down.
Now with age and covid there is even more to keep my mind occupied in the many dark hours at my disposal. Frankly, I see no light at the end of a tunnel which in turn seems to be growing longer. Many of us have a cross to bear, and I guess not sleeping has become mine. I am actually amazed at how little sleep a body can have but still continue to function.

Rescue Remedy - Information and Sale - BachFlower.com
Rescue Remedy...is the most famous of the Bach remedies, but in fact, is not 'a remedy' at all. Instead, it's a blend of five different Bach Flower Remedies: Rescue Remedy was created by Dr. Bach to deal with emergencies and crises - the moments when there is no time to make a proper individual...www.bachflower.com

i suggest you try it yourself TGG. It’s actually made from flower essences and can be very effective. The fact that it’s been around for so long gives it credibility. I, and my family, have used it for years.Just as well as any placebo - if you believe in it.
But if you have doubts about something developed by a guy in the 1930s based on how holding different flowers made him “feel”, then it might not be as effective.

Why are influencers flocking to conspiracy theories during coronavirus?
Like several social media influencers, former reality TV contestant Amanda Micallef began spreading misinformation online. She says she was motivated by the financial impact of coronavirus restrictions.www.abc.net.au
"...
University of Melbourne social anthropologist James Rose said people were more likely to take up conspiracy theories during stressful conditions, such as those presenting themselves in the pandemic.
"What happens under crisis conditions is that people who would otherwise have healthy patterns of thinking, begin to find themselves drawn towards conspiratorial patterns of thinking," he said.

And yet the drugs aren’t working....
(rather than turn this into another moon-landing debate I’ll agree to disagree)![]()
I'll add some support to MG's point by pointing out that some flowers and plants can be rather potent e.g. coffee, poppy seed, & cannabis.
The recently mentioned anti-malarial drug quinine comes from the quinine tree.
Here's a non-exhaustive list of active ingredients derived from plants for use as drugs and medicines:

It’s not the “plant/natural” origin - it’s things that have been clinically trialled and found to have no effect.

No argument from me but I'm sure that Pete Evans would disagree strongly with you.
