Multiplat Doom: Eternal

I would like to know why the release date got pushed back from Dec 2019 to March 2020. Maybe there is some kind of massive overhaul or redesign.

That said, this game looks more dynamic than Doom 2016 with the addition of the shoulder cannon, grappling hook and ability to climb.
Im at the point where Im shocked if a game doesn't get at least one delay, other than the sports titles.

Looking to preorder this, will be the first game I've preordered. Tossing up between ordering from JB, Harvey Norman and ozgameshop - which is better/best chance of having it ready on March 20?

Quite a bit of new gameplay up on youtube now

We're currently playing it for review – if you enjoyed the first one it sounds like you'll be in for a treat.

They should have made it shareware as a 25 year throwback :p

I haven't paid $99 dollerydoos for a new game in ages. Tried finding a cheaper price on a key store that deals in AUD but from the ones that I trust they only offered keys for Bethesda's launcher. Ended up biting the bullet and paying the premium on Steam. Preloading now!!! Hopefully it's as well optimised as Doom 2016, I might record some ultrawide gameplay.

Beat it last night - very tough in some sections with the new enemies. The parkour sections get a bit tedious but the new environments are awesome.

A whole bunch of new story elements and they've changed the way you think and play when in combat - managing your resources is key, especially ammo.
You can't just spam the super shotgun.

Visually it's very different to 2016, and I think I prefer the style of 2016 more. Eternal is very arcadey, cartoonish in nature with the loot drops flying out of enemies. I turned the saturation of the loot all the way down early in the game.

I didn't do all of the extra challenges but keen to go back and complete them and get all the secrets

What difficulty did you play on? I'm running ultra-violence currently and having a bloody tough time of it. It's actually getting quite frustrating.

I feel like they may have added too many pieces to the gameplay loop. Balancing health, shields, ammo and abilities is getting a bit tedious instead of just allowing me to enjoy the gunplay.

Agree with the arcadey, cartoonish comment as well...not a huge fan of that vibe.

Still a decent game but so far I would say I definitely preferred the previous one.

Do you think they may patch it to make it a bit easier/less focus on inventory management?

I don't really want to have to be worried about ammo in a game like Doom. Doom 2016 did it almost perfectly, made you use different guns but it wasn't a struggle to get through fights even on the 2nd hardest difficulty setting.

Agree that in 2016 I had a blast swapping between my prefered weapons and never had any down time. I'm assuming I'll be able to hold more ammo later on but early on being starved of ammo I feel like I'm not playing the game as intended. I want to just run around and blast everything in a high speed, twitchy fashion.
