I'm probably pro-Sonja as the president but until I get to go to a Good Friday game and aren't getting ridiculed by Blues supporters when he have already lost the game at quarter time I couldn't say she's doing a great job.I think she’s done a great job.
She brought in Clarko and revolutionised our back end staff, who I do think are “generally” making the right decisions.
And similarly, we have the right people leading our AFLW program and we are having historic success.
I can’t ask much more from her.
I think this conversation is best had over a few beers and a scoob after we beat the Swans or the Suns next year.Look as much as I love Ferbs, and I do. He's opened my eyes and made me care about a people I had never had contact with previously. Same sorta for the Muslim boys on this forum, growing up where I did, I didn't know what a Muslim was until my cricket captain at MHS said he was one in 1997. Literally never been exposed.
In saying that, and with actual respect for the humans involved, I have to question this want to associate the struggle of First Nations People with the struggle of Palestinian peeps. They've got nothing in common. And it cheapens the Aboriginal struggle to associate themselves with terrorists or supporters of hatred, based on what side of a wall your parents were born on.
It's actually a ridiculous conflation of facts, truth and history and shows that anyone pushing this narrative is not only antisemitic at heart, but has not read a single book about the history of the region or are indeed just zealots pushing their bronze-age nonsense.
My dad's 3rd wife is a Jew, trust me, I understand antisemitism better than most. That **** is the reason I've lived all over the world for the past 25 years and don't wish to come home.

You almost outed me, montañosa.Kudos good way to avoid CS
Gee.I think she’s done a great job.

I'm bullish on Sonja and lean towards her have a prolonged run as president.I think she’s done a great job.

Watch the investment in the women’s game when the first round of mother/sons become available to be drafted.Maybe but in 2022 she took over then we replaced the rest of the board and then the footy department.
We don't know what happened in the board meetings for the three years prior to that. We don't know whether or not there was pressure on Buckley because of the decisions he made. He stepped down early. Maybe that was because Sonja Hood had seen three years of inteptitude as junior board member who didn't make waves, had enough and staged a board coup. It certainly seems that way given the wholesale changes that were made.
We don't know. All we do know is that once she became president she started to change everything that led our men's side to that shitful place. And that she gave the new (men's) coach a five year contract because that was what they thought they'd need to fix the men's side.
Even without the racism scandal that's five years to turn things around. We're just over halfway thru that now. You can't just snap your fingers and magically have a functional football team. Especially if you've gone down the path of bottoming out and are now at the very bottom. Like we were in 2022.
The other thing is this - despite all the criticism AFLW isn't going away. It'll be part of Aussie Rules football for as long as footy exists now. In 50-100 years time people will look back on out AFLW side the way they look back on the successful VFL "big clubs" of 100+ years ago. If we still have a club the AFLW sides dominance will be a big part of that.
You may not care right now about AFLW but in 50 years no one else is gonna care about your opinion. What North supporters then will care about is that our AFLW side will be considered on of the greatest and most successful teams in Australian sporting history.
Hopefully they'll say that about our men's side of the next decade too.
It’s also why the one club mantra is super important, we need all of indoctrinated to the blue and white. I think the men’s game has already turned into US sport, the men have no alliance to club. The women’s game isn’t based around money just yet.Spot on DR.
I don't have a problem with her bar this obsession with wanting to be Chairman Xi... it's hilarious given the state of the team which keeps the lights on.
4th is Peter ScanlonThree ways to see her move. One, she’s power hungry. Two, she realises she needs a lot more time to have any chance of presiding over a (AFL-M) club in anything other than dire straits. Third, she is justifiably confident we’re about to hit our straps, and wants to be there to steer into that and enjoy the fruits of the hard yards to date.
I choose to believe option three. I don’t begrudge anyone who thinks it is one or two, as long as they recognise that it could also be three.
Please be three.
4th is Peter Scanlon
Nothing scandalous, Peter Scanlon is the reason we are still afloat. Puts in millions annually. As Pauline H would say, “please explain?”
Last time we had someone interstate based didn't work too wellThere’s a bloke available who loves our mentality as a small club.
I’ve spoken to him and that chip on the shoulder, small club stick it to the man angry leveler role is right up his alley.
Previous ceo at afl level, Adelaide based, ex sanfl player. Would love the ceo role.
We might need to beat some drums to make it happen
