Assuming the AFL don't back door us on the BMac compo (which is still a chance btw) this assistance package is reasonable and proportional in the context of what we need to get competitive again.

Multi year assistance in this package is interesting - it effectively supplies us with 3 years worth of consecutive assistance - unprecedented in the modern era for an established Victorian based club.

I think given they have made it a multi year package it is reasonable to assume this is the last bit of assistance we will ever get - certainly in this decade.

We are on our own now and we need to make every decision count - the clubs and senior AFL fold wont countenance any more support for us.

CCJ trade decisions; Kayne Turner leadership decisions; LMac captaincy decisions - these have to be be done now.

With Clarko in charge I have more confidence in the club's ability to use this to our advantage - but let's be clear this is it in terms of assistance.

We need to stop whinging about our lot in life and how everyone hates us and get on with making good football decisions and winning games.

I don't think that they can publicly go against the FA compensation system and say that they factored in other picks.

We were always bound to get something, you can't go 17th 18th 18th 17th. My point was about the outrage from oppo posters carry on over picks 19 19 20 v the old system we would have harley reid, and before you say North did it to themselves cutting so many A graders all 11 of them, we cut less players that Carlton and GC did over the same time frame.

And they shouldn't get assistance either. The draft is the equalisation measure for the AFL and it should be the only one. It is what it is though, and you're right, the assistance North have gotten is lesser than the assistance previously given to teams that were very obviously tanking. Nevermind the assistance that the AFL engineered for Essendon after they got done for drug cheating.

While I lean heavily against any sort of assistance for anyone, North are probably the most deserving of assistance. Your club has fought to lower debt while other clubs keep spending and pretend to lower debt (St Kilda, Port Adelaide).

Not particularly fair given what gold coast got recently despite being a better team than we have been, and what teams got in the 2000s, some of which were two years removed from back to back grand final appearances.

Yeah previous level of assistance in the 2000s was a joke. And there have been some poor recipients like Essendon in recent years. I agree with you, while I don't think any team should be getting draft pick assistance, North are the most deserving at this time, and certainly more deserving than Gold Coast.
