Draft camp & state screening results

Does anyone have all the draft camp results or other fitness results for all our new recruits?

I can only find the top 10 ten results in the draft camp.

I would really appreciate it if someone is able to post these.

The results for the Vic boys were posted on the Draft and Trading forum a little while back. I don't think Aaron Kite attended. I never saw his name on a list of DC and SS invitees and no results for him were published. Sorry for the format. I'm not sure if vBulletin would be down with me HTML coding a table so I won't bother in the event that it doesn't work.

Pre Season: 181.5cm, 79.2kg, 2.96 20m sprint, 8.61 agility run, 13.1 beep test, 70cm vertical leap.
Screening: 184.1cm, 76.7kg, 2.99 20m sprint, 62cm vertical jump, 24.95 repeat 30m sprints

Cook didn't do the agility run and beep test at Draft Camp for some reason. I would assume he got injured during the Camp.

Ed Curnow
Pre Season: 182cm, 74.8kg, 3.01 20m sprint, 8.85 agility run, 15.0 beep test, 56cm vertical leap
Screening: 180cm, 78.2kg

Curnow was injured for Draft Camp and couldn't compete in any of the tests. For the record, the best beep test at DC was 15.2 so he would've been right up there.

Patrick Dangerfield
Pre Season: 187.5cm, 80.4kg, 2.93 20m sprint, 14.1 beep test, 78cm vertical leap
Screening: 186.9cm, 82.8kg, 2.92 20m sprint, 8.67 agility run, 13.1 beep test, 73cm vertical leap, 23.96 repeat 30m sprints

At Draft Camp Dangerfield came 2nd in repeat 30m sprints, 3rd in vertical leap, equal 7th in 20m sprint

Pre Season: 190.5cm, 87.3kg, 2.99 20m sprint, 8.22 agility run, 13.0 beep test, 62cm vertical leap
Screening: 191cm, 88.8kg, 3.06 20m sprint, 8.29 agility run, 14.2 beep test, 62cm vertical leap, 25.55 repeat 30m sprints

Otten came 6th at Draft Camp in the agility run and 11th in the beep test (Top 10 results were released and 10th was a 14.3 )

For the record, Jarrhan Jacky came 9th in the 20m sprint at DC with a 2.93 and Tony Armstrong came equal 10th in the 3km time trial.

Am I the only one concerned by the fact that both Dangerfield and Curnow appear to shrinking? What exactly is in the water down at Geelong?

Nah, the only lists that I have seen have been the Victorian players that went to SS or DC. It was posted on Big Footy by mojon, so the thanks should really go to him. My guess is that he's got a contact and that the list was released by AFL Victoria.

I can't help you with the rest of Jacky and Armstrong's results because the only other list that has been made public is the Top 10 of each category. So I only know how they went in the ones they finished Top 10 in.

I think they should add goal kicking to the camp results. I know there is nothing like match pressure but with all the other players watching as well as most of the football world I think it would be pretty good pressure.

You could have 15 shots from 35 metres (5 either side & 5 in front) and then 5 shots from outside 50 metres. 20 shots in total. You would have someone on the mark and someone on the goal line.

I know clubs would get an idea from their games but I think it would just give another gage on a players strenghts or weaknesses. Of course it would be up to the club to decide if it was a strength or weakness as the player may have an out of character performance at the camp.

Being able to convert is so important and I would say possibly the difference between being drafted and not.

Would love to hear peoples thoughts.

This year Addam Maric was said to have the best goal accuracy ever recorded by Champion Data at any level of footy, including AFL.

Considering the amount of time the recruiters see of these guys playing footy they'd already have a good idea of how they go in front of the sticks. Draft Camp is more about letting them know about the athletic attributes of players as well as their mental profile (interviews are every bit as big as the testing).

I understand that, and I know you can't involve all football attributes at the camp or else you will be there for ever. However I know plenty of players either come into these systems late due to various reasons and many of them will play in positions that may not show much of their goal kicking ability.

In saying that I guess it is up to clubs to sort this out for themselves

Would definetely see who can cope with the pressure best out there (and obviously which players are good infront of the big sticks).

Nah, don't think Goalkicking's really neccessary. The defenders will have trouble slotting one through. I would think if the recruiters don't know how each draftee kicks they haven't done enough homework. Anyway, to get into draft camp you need a certain amount of invites (I think it is 5 invites at least, and less than 5 you get to go to state screening) so this should show the recruiters have watched them play a bit and should know quite a bit about their footballing ability.

Like how 20m sprints don't favour ruckmen, or the height test doesn't favour people 5 ft 3??

I'm sure the coaches will realise that defenders aren't meant to be super infront of goals.

But if a coach thinks a defender could be a forward in the long term, then it does have benefits for defenders as well.

Clubs should already know their footballing ability. Draft camp is mainly for interviews and testing the player's athletic ability. I don't think they do any skill work at all...
