McCluggage, Brodie, Scharenberg, Clarke, Florent, Venables, Taranto, McGrath, Petrevksi-Seton...

Great day huge amount of talent on show.

Love McCluggage ......

but want if he is there this bloke.

Andrew McGrath Exceptional 2 games that I have seen, speed , skills , fearless.

Marshall will go high too.

I'm basing it off from what I see mainly, like what we all do.

He played mid as a jnr for morwell, I coached against him a couple of times and put a tag on him and he was held.

His x development coach said he wont become a full time mid because he has a attaching mind set and defending doesn't come natural to him. He said to get the best out of him you'd keave him forward and let him snag his 2 goals a week.

Don't get me wrong he's going to a great small fwd but I think we already have some good ones.
Well time will tell I guess, i'm sure he'll be tested through the midfield more and more as the year goes on.

Honstly best case for us is that Ainsworth, McGrath and Marshall all go before our pick.

I wouldn't have thought that were possible a few weeks ago but it's looking more likely now.
McGrath's a blisteringly quick local boy with fantastic character.

Unless one of McCluggage or Brodie is still there at our pick I'd be surprised if we went past him.

Yeah I'd be very happy with him I more meant that by these guys creeping up it might push the pure mids down the order a bit.

Worst case scenario would be all of SPS, McLuggage, Brodie and Scharanberg gone as well as McGrath

Sounds like a ripping prospect

If you had to choose between gaff and mcgrath who would you go with barrels?

You'd go with Gaff of course; he's a known quantity, and a very good player... but at the likely price for him: McGrath.

Given that i reckon Gaff would cost our first this year and then probably our 2nd next year (or at least our 3rd), it would be an interesting decision as to what would be better out of Gaff, or a Brodie/SPS/Ainsworth/Venebles/McCluggage/McGrath this year, whoever we'd get with our 2nd or 3rd next year, plus the salary cap saving.

The big thing that would play a part in that decision will be whether GWS (via Collingwood, if they finish below us) and Gold Coast keep their picks before ours and have to use them on academy selections. If they do, then our pick 8 for instance could essentially become pick 6, but we won't know that until after the trade period ends, which makes it so much more of a dilemma, as we'd need to make a decision on how hard to go for a Gaff well before that!
In all seriousness, if the Academy teams end up with enough picks across the board, they may take a few of the 'open' players if they rate them higher than their academy kids & have enough picks/points in the bank to take the higher rated academy kids anyway.

Eg: Gold Coast have pick 3. Why would they waste that on Bowes or Scheer if they haven't been bid on by then?

Same goes for GWS with their Pies pick... They could take Marshall/SPS/McCluggage etc

We need another small fwd, billings, Sinclair, Minchin, Templeton, Gresham and Lonie will all turn in to mids so we wil need ainsworth, I would take him he has a bullet kick on him in that game today kicked the ball better than anyone.

Hasn't done a heap as the ball was either down the other end or goals were being kicked from long range, but he's got great awareness, agility and good speed. Skilful too.

Only genuine weakness is his size, but he's got a huge leap, which negates that a fair bit. Otherwise I'm wary of whether he can move into the middle full time.
Listed in the bests again today despite a solid tag and was again influential when it mattered.

Ben Guthrie (AFL.com) reports that McGrath "had an excellent second half to finish with 24 disposals and six clearances as he spent time in the midfield".

Could name 10 players today who were better

Anyone for a forward/ruck for a later pick?

Callum Coleman-Jones. Averaging 8 disposals, 5.7 contested possessions, 2.7 contested marks, 0.7 goals per game in these championships.

199cms/98kgs. Scotch College boy from Adelaide playing for Sturt.

Depends on whether we still have 4 ruck options on our list next year.

Personally in my top 3.

McCluggage - probably the best balanced mid.
Brodie - excellent inside mid, who will rack up possession and win contests on the inside. 187/189cm height.
McGrath - may end up being better than Brodie. True line breaker, can dodge tackles, strong marking ability and has x factor. Only knock so far is the 179cm height. A lot better than Parish. (Sidenote: has anyone noticed the funny way Parish walks - reminds me of Ross Lyon walk).

hon. mentions, venables (another x factor player), scharenberg. Want to see how WA mids go today. Other players if we drop down might be Taranto, Berry, etc. I really like Taranto - he could be the next Nat Fyfe, if he can transition into a mid. Venables - if McGrath isn't available, he'll be my first choice over someone like SPS. BTW, SPS is a nice player.

You can read more about some of the players in this link

The reason is they'd prefer to pick people from their state to avoid the "go home" factor. There's always development time lost when players leave, so it's better to get the best players. If they can get 3 first round picks from NSW (who want to play for GWS), PLUS on a 20% discount, why wouldn't they!
