There are a number of KPP who seem likely to fall in this range but I remain unconvinced by all of them. I said a few weeks back I'd be looking at bringing another midfielder in at this pick and I still can't see it falling any other way.
The type of midfielder we'll look at here is unknown and may depend on what we do at pick 5.
If we go with Brodie, will we look at another inside midfielder?
If we go with Taranto or SPS, will an inside midfielder be a priority?
Whichever way it falls I am liking what I see from a number of the midfield prospects who may be considered here.
SPP, Florent and Venables are likely to be off the board at this pick but I am hoping one is available for us. I would pick any of that trio here without hesitation.
Outside of that trio I've liked what I've seen from plenty, with Fisher and Gallucci probably the next two on my radar.

The trouble is, I'm also unconvinced about most of the midfielders that are being talked about at our pick, probably more so. Our pick will more likely to be around the 29 to 30 mark after bids. Do we reach for a player that we think will last until our third pick or take someone who may not be the perfect fit for our needs?

I doubt there'll be more than 4 bids made before our pick, and two of them will eat up picks before ours, so maybe it'll go as low as #27.

Atley or SPP. Depends what we do with first. If we take SPS with 5 I would like to see us take on some grunt.
Dont get wrong i understand the Romance but thats about all it is surely, its a putrid draft for KPP id argue that our 3rd may even be to early for him. Far to many mids to choose from

I'm genuinely not enthused by any of those names. Zac Fisher is of interest, but SPP is a Tom bell clone (no thanks) and the rest are mediocre. We need class, not athletes or butchers.

I'd expect something like that from #48 onwards. There's zero reason to step outside the U18s talent.

Drew has huge contested ball numbers, with almost 60% of his disposals coming from a contest, while his clearance and tackle numbers are also very high. Hits the scoreboard on a regular basis. He wins 75% of his own possessions, which is also extremely high numbers. Played senior football in the country as a 15 year old. I wouldn't consider him quick, but far from slow, as he has power, releasing from a contest

If we take Taranto or Brodie @5 then I'm still liking the idea of SOS bidding on Macreadie here. Failing that I'd be comfortable with him taking Brennan Cox. Would like to free up Weitering and give him Simmo's role half way through the season. Easily has the best disposal in our side and arguably our best decision-maker. Wake up call was seeing Jamo fall of the cliff in round 3. Knew it was coming, but not that quick.

tbh i don't follow the u18 and only watch draft videos after we draft someone.

At this pick (barring any potential slider like Witherden or Venables) it has to be Mutch or Drew at pick 25 (after putting in a Macreadie bid). Powell-Pepper and Clarke butcher the ball too much for my liking. Kerr is way too high at 25. His lack of agility will scare off recruiters (similar for Battle).
Witherden would be ideal to replace Tuohy but is most likely gone by our pick.
Venables would provide us with something a bit different. Initially playing up forward but a possibility to forge a more permanent midfield role.
Macreadie was touted as a top 5 pick this time last year. I'm not sure why he hasn't had a fantastic year but I'd be backing him in to become a very, very good player in a professional AFL environment. I just like the way he moves for a big kid and my gut feel is he becomes a pretty special player.
Mutch is just a natural ball winner/accumulator - something we genuinely lack. He's no superstar but would be a perfect fit in our engine room next to the beast in Cripps and potentially the class of SPS.
Drew is undersold by most on here. Knightmare has him at number 10 in his power rankings and he has been pretty accurate historically with these lists. Powerful inside mid on par with Brodie in this regard. Didn't get to play much midfield during the championships but had a very solid TAC Cup season. Big tackler, big clearance player, and stepped up during the TAC finals.
Ridley is the other guy I think we will consider if he's available. A lot to like about this kid and I like his kicking and disposal efficiency.

I heard rumors GWS have stashed Macreadie away and basically removed him from under the nose of a lot of recruiters this year. Was put in a school with no AFL program either.
Could be bull dust, but they have form with hiding players...
