I just think that a player like SPS with all that talent tends to go missing in games. SPS is that special player that explodes for a quarter and kicks a few goals then the next does nothing.
To have such an early pick the type of talent you want to draft is one that dominates games, prolific ball winner, clean disposal, and the last point is he needs to fit in and enhance the list balance.
If it came down to SPS and Tarranto, I would hope the CFC pick Tarranto as he has a higher ceiling and has all the attributes in a draftee a club would want.
He is a MATCH WINNER and he's the player that would want the ball in his hands to win the game when the siren sounds.

When SPS builds his tank he will be able to sustain intensity on the ball...apparently he has already been linked to us.
I see SPS or Taranto as being our main two options and perhaps Brodie as third...
One of these selections is very much needed through the midfield...cant wait for SPS or Taranto to be with us helping Cripps out.i think we blood them immediately....

Not saying you pick him because he's indigenous, but rather you don't not pick him because he's indigenous - unlike most indigenous boys he can actually win his own ball AND he's also a jet outside

Have you heard anything about Hayward, because he is invited to the draft because there is a club who fancy him in the top 10 and Carlton was named first and G.C. second...........could be a surprise choice early ?!! Supposedly Carlton are keen..........?

I'm thinking we'll have a choice of Ainsworth, SPS, Taranto and Brodie. I think, FWIW, the draft order will go. 1. and 2. McCluggage or McGrath. 3. Bowes. 4. CAR. Ainsworth/SPS/Taranto/Brodie. I'm thinking GWS will get stripped of 2/15 for the Whitfield debacle. BRIS also surely have to bid on Bowes at 2, they have to, or their QLD counterpart will get an armchair ride. They'll force them to take Bowes early and use 3. They'll probably get the kid they want at 5 anyway, but at least they won't get a free hit before selecting Bowes who I guarantee we would bid on if BRIS don't.

We'll probably then bid on Setterfield too. Then North bid on Perryman. GWS's later picks all get used up on those two. At 23 (yep we move up 2) - we select Macreadie, they can't match and we get a gun KPD. Thoughts?!?!

Didn't we already get Marchbank? He will be a great pick up for us and I see a 1995 style backline been put together by SOS, the puzzle is coming together I reckon SOS has found the corner pieces and the rest will come together nicely over the next 2 years once last years and this years picks get the magical 50 games under their belts. Tell all your Carlton friends to load up on the top memberships guys we will be hitting finals again in a couple of years!

I think Wells is a better comparison.

Wells is a match winner on his day so hopefully SPS can be like him but more consistent.

It's intriguing and still an issue here that we compare indigenous players mostly to other indigenous players. It's a conundrum and I think it blocks their full acceptance into the wider playing pool. Anyone have a non-indigenous comparison for SPS? Not having a go, it's something I have done with good intentions but I think ultimately little knowledge on the matter.
