Brad Mackenzie - The last thing we need is another halfback flanker, especially a slow one. We've got them (and inside midfielders) coming out of our wazoo. I would be surprised if he was on our radar. We need some classy and pacy outside finishers and maybe a successor to Darren Glass.

There is no reason why he couldnt play on a wing or hff. Think outside the box a little, players arent pigeon holed into one position their whole career. Its all pointless talk anyway, all will be revealed tomorrow....

Only a few hours now. Personally I'm hoping for a Embley/Nicoski replacements. Not that they suck but more to replace them when the time comes. A Glass replacement needs to be looked at as well.

I think we may have more interest in the Rookie Draft so cover positions though. Hoping to get that diamond.

Is there any chance we will grab Kersten if available? personally i think he will be gone - but Emma Q from the age has him going to Freo @ 29.

There is not an urgent need for a KPD - we can get one next year, and from what i have read about Kersten he has a little Jack Darling about him, which you can't teach!

If he's gone i'd be happy with a Lockyer or similar - and the other pick should always be a small (at this stage likely Newman or Hill).

Nrwman or Hill or a number of VIC juniors could be taken as On Ballers at 23 !

But I think

# 23 - Yeo , Hill , Merritt , Murdoch , McKenzie

# 28 - Newman , McInnes , Manson , Lockyer

Any of those combinations should have it covered !

WHAT IT NEEDS Given West Coast basically ignored trade week apart from trading out Brad Ebert and securing Bulldog Josh Hill, they are clearly very happy with their list. Succession planning is underway with young ruckman Scott Lycett to join Nic Naitanui when Dean Cox retires and the young kids such as McKenzie, Schofield and Brown set up to cover for Darren Glass when he moves on.

WHAT IT MIGHT GET The Eagles always needmidfielders given Daniel Kerr's body is ageingand Ebert's depature.

RECYCLING OPPORTUNITIES More likely to rookie experienced WAFL players.

LATE MAIL Need a classy wingman and JacksonMerrett is looming large. Also linked to local forward Murray Newman.

If i remember correctly Manson said his idol was Naita and would love to play for us. I really want this kid the more i think about it. There is a risk drafting any player, whether it be a go home factor, more money from rival club, so called family links or injury after injury or just a plain dud. There are no certainties. If we draft him and it doesn't work out well so be it however we are a very strong club with strong values once more and the players are very tight knit. I have faith that if any club could nurture this kid without pandering him, it's ours. The upside could be immense, especially for this kid and our club. Imagine a forward line consisting of Manson, Kennedy and Darling. That could be very, very scary indeed. Kid has X-Factor written all over him. Sometimes you've just got to roll the dice.

I agree that he won't last till the rookie draft so i hope the club takes a punt on this kid. Yes we need another KPD but i doubt waiting another year will truly screw us as some in the media would suggest. There a a few kids i would be more than happy with but i doubt any of them could be the freak this kid could be. Naita MKII.

So wrong on so many levels. The guy did averagely pre-NTFL. Its not exactly a super league up there. He is extremely more likely to be Sampi MK2 than Naitanui MK2.

Still think it will be Lockyer and Newmann with Mcinnes and Hill as possible backup selections. Perfect year to fill up on a needs basis.

Emma Quayle had her predictions in the age this morning... Merrett at 23 and Hill at 28. She stated something like we'd been keen on Hill for a long while... if we pick him up I'll be pretty annoyed; I don't care if he's athletic, it has to be balanced with true footballing ability. From some of the comments I've read it seems like the latter is an issue. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually not as bad as I thought, based on a highlights video.

Also, read an article on Merrett. Really like his attitude, even if I'm vague on his footy ability.

Furthermore, if we get Hill and Merrett, that should just about sew up our wing spots. We'll have those 2 plus Gaff. Rosa is still pretty young and Sheppard could move there.

Looked at a mock draft this morning and someone had Mackenzie going to us at 23. This would be well and truly jizz worthy.

Still torn over the key defender - Lockyer or Talia. Talia is the better key defender of the two and plays the role better (AA full back 2011). Going to be hard to pass on Lockyer but if he is available than Talia is well and truly the best option to replace Glass in a like for like capacity

Perhaps you could educate me on these levels you speak of? Will i be able to understand them? I really hope so. Oh and i was referring to raw athletic potential which is what Naita has in spades. Your slight against him in regards to Sampi is way off. Sampi was a fat shit who didn't like to train, or are you just comparing them because they are aboriginal. There was no go home factor with Sampi. Was that part of your levels? if not feel free to add it.

This is a fair point. Perhaps taking 2 classy mids like Merrett and Newman will be better for us going forward. So many options, wish we had 1 more live pick

Newman, Hill and Manson are guys i would love to see in our system. I hope we really grab at least one of these boys. In saying that though is there any particular player that could slide to 23 that would throw our plans up in the air???? Not so sure this year.
