Draft Scenarios..

After watching todays game against the Bulldogs, ive heard a few ppl on here mention our need for a strong forward..

Does anyone think it would be worth chasing McKinley from West Coast?

Ideally, if we were to get McKinley - and even Warnock - then have a crack at getting Daniel Rich in the draft, he has great footskills and we have hardworking mids that would be able to get it to him.

Each player ive mentioned would go a long way into solving a few problems that we have, throw this in with the potential that our backline is showing atm and things would be looking good..

What do ppl think of this? and does anyone else have other scenarios to consider

If we were to draw against WCE and all the other games stayed similar in scores how odd would it be to go into R22 knowing that if we were to lose by, say 32 points, that we'd drop below the Eagles.

I suppose if we were losing by 28 points thirty minutes into the last I might be tempted to cheer for Richmond to kick a goal so we get a better pick, but that's as far as I get into the tanking matrix.

Your obviously assuming Rich will go at number 1 and Warnock will enter the pre-season draft I take it, Im not convinced of either.
After what I seen today, West Coast need alot more than draft picks - they need ticker, good luck though mate.

I just think its good to throw up scenarios, instead of thinking that one player in Watts will solves all our problems.

WCE will take Rich no matter what IMO, and we'll get one of Naita/Watts.

I think we'll finish 15th and take Watts at pick 2. We're a lot better than WCE right now and we should definitely beat them at the MCG.

I think wce- will take naita no matter what. What a better way to learn than off the best ruckman in the game cox who also took time to develop.

Theyy drafted pretty strong for the mid-field last year with masten and ebert and seaby i think is finished at wce under wosha.

I think McKinley is a quality player, but i think we're fine on the small forward front as it is, & Addam Maric is still to come into the team as well. I don't know what his endurance is like, & it would only be worth getting him if he could play as a midfielder. Having said that i'd take him if he was available in the PSD, i just wouldn't give up a second round pick to get him (esp. this year)...

He's not a small forward, he's a goalkicking medium size like Robbo who would be a handy recruit, but West Coast wouldn't give him up cheap.

This is the first year in quite a while where there isn't a standout, guaranteed number 1 (it's also the first year in quite a while in which Carlton aren't in contention for the number 1 but that's for another day). In the last three years, at this stage of the year we knew Kreuzer, Gibbs and Murphy would go number 1, it was just a matter of who would get them. This year, it really depends on who gets the first pick as to who goes number 1. West Coast, for example, you would think would take Rich becuase of their ageing midfield, but as dee-molition said, who better as a ruckman to learn from then the best ruckman in the league? Us, West Coast and Freo all have a spot for all three number 1 candidates.

Mckinley is lsiated 184 cm, sure he plays taller similara to Robbo but without the leap. What we need is tal target forward some who is 6'4 or 6'5, watts is the answer.

Take Watts with the no 2 draft pick and Warnock with the preseason draft pick.
Then I would look at trading one of our second round picks for someone like Prismall from geelong

Nah I think we should develope Sylvua into a permanent forward.
Hes not defensive enough to be a midfielder but I like him down forward

Why should Prismall suddenly be worth so much? Sylvia is in our best 18 every week and is consistenty handy. Sure, Prismall has more competition in a much stronger midfield but I still don't want to give up too much for a player who is only definitely proven at VFL level. The next month and beyond with Ling and possibly Ablett out will potentially be make or break stuff for him.

WCE have been tanking since early in the season IMO.Melbourne to beat WCE is a pretty safe bet!

Did anyone else find it strange in the 90's when the WCE had their premiership success that the youngsters they recruited always turned out bulit like Hercules in their 1st season whereas other clubs youngsters seemed to take 3 to 4 years to bulk up?

My point is the culture of the WCE club could lean towards limboing around the rules.Tank.

Anyhow,it seems whether you finish 16,15 or 14th you are going to come away pretty happy in the upcoming draft.
