Assuming Essendon get 15 off Gold Coast and we agree to trade 2 for 5 and a F1, who might be willing to offer their F1 and would that be sufficient return for dropping from 2 to 5?

• Adelaide are trying to get one of Carlton’s picks with their F1 - maybe they’d be an option if they don’t get anywhere with the Blues. They already have 16 so would 15 help them - Marsh, Phillipou, Barker and Nairn are all SA lads around that range so maybe getting 2 might appeal
• Melbourne have 2xF1 picks (theirs and Gold Coast’s) so maybe they’d be willing to move the Suns picks to accelerate their current rebuild. Someone like Thredgold could be handy for them
• St Kilda don’t have a pick until 50 so might want to get another R1 pick in especially if they are interested in bringing in another Phillipou

I don’t see any other clubs interested in trading forward either because their F1 pick is likely to be more valuable than a late R1 pick or they’re wanting to keep it and, if anything acquire an extra F1 to build draft capital

In order of preference it would be St Kilda, Adelaide then Gold Coast and the last two are marginal as being sufficient

You don’t trade 2 for 5+ unless you have a fair idea that Sharp would last till 5. If so then its 15 for nothing.

Richmond are being linked to Robey, Grlj, X Taylor and Cumming with no mention of interest in Sharp

Even if they did take Sharp then at least one of Robey or Cumming would still be available

There’s going to be a good player available at 5 regardless so it becomes a matter of how highly the club rates CDT above those options

Certainly a lot of talk on the mocks that we should split #2 and end up with Sharp and another decent mid thereabouts. Clarke was pictured saying he would consider splitting #2 for two picks in the top 10.
If we end up with CDT, so be it. But I'd prefer getting a bunch of mids in to really cement our midfield in place. Inside mid, outside mid, HF mid, HB mid, the blueprints there, and off we go and grow!

Presuming we take Duursma, I was just thinking about where to play him.
Easy thing to do would be to put him on the wing or half back. Use his marking and let the play come to him.

However, thinking about it a bit more, maybe forward would be the way to go. If he really wants to follow in the Bonts footsteps, then play him forward with stints in the middle. It would be good for his long term development. Learning to play forward so he can be a mid in the future that can play/rest forward.

He is way to good of a runner and marking and kicking asset in transition. he'll kick a fair few goals on the wing imo anyway

I sit here finishing another roast beef, 3 cheese, pickle and mustard toastie thinking…

What’s the big deal with Farrow? If he wasn’t from WA would we be linked to him? Absolutely not. I’m sick of it. I don’t think he’s the Dawson or Young that people say he is, and I think the last thing we need is another tall-er half back. He’s got the distribution that a couple of our fellas lack but we’ve got Ginbey, Hough, and Starcevich that will all probably get a run. Would I rather Farrow over Duggan? Yes. Would I rather Oskar Taylor over Farrow? Absolutely.

I can't see Essendon trading two top 10 draft picks so they can take CDT. Ruckmen take 4 - 5 years of development before they can start winning their position on the ground for you regularly. Scott and the rest of the hierarchy at that club need runs on the board now. They could be sacked next year if the club has another bad year. They can't afford to be looking that far down the road. They will want players who can have an impact as soon as possible.

I've watched every Sharp highlights package available and I get why a lot of people like how he go's about it. He tackles hard and get's his hands on the ball constantly. You can't fault his work rate. But that's only half of the battle, you still have to be able to do something with it. Most of the time he's dishing off a quick handball or a looping short pass. He's got a poor ball drop at speed (not that he has any) shown pretty clearly at 1.40 in his SANFL round 16 highlights. I think he'll slide past Cumming, Grlj and maybe even Farrow because without a decent kick, speed or endurance he's limited to a Priddis style ball hunting inside mid role. Some people love the Pridda type of Mid and that's cool. I think the game moved away from even having 1 of that type of one dimensional player in the middle 2 years ago.

Sure, but not necessarily the player we prefer and that's the crux of it right there for so many of us.

Who Richmond are linked to is all smoke and mirrors at this stage, just like us with CDT and besides they can still trade out one of those picks as well and who knows what their preference could be.

Pick 15 (more like 20 in this draft) seems hardly worth the club sliding back and potentially missing out on the player they'd prefer. However if they are prepared to risk it then surely the payoff needs to be better than the 20th odd best player in a weak draft.

The highlight at 1.40 he crumbs a spoiled mark on half back, bursts away with decent speed, takes a bounce and hits a target in the fwd 50 on the chest with a 40m pass

Did you mean some other highlight?

Would you’s do a deal with Melbourne

Melbourne trade out pick 8+Gold Coast F1
For
West cost F1 + pick 13

At pick 8 West Coast could take another wa boy in Jacob Farrow or a Dyson Sharp
First time suggesting a trade proposal?

I wouldn’t give up our F1 for 8 and Gold Coast F1

Counter offer?
You've suggested two pick downgrades including giving up a potential top-3 pick. A counter offer requires an offer to counter.

If we draft CDT, he'll spend most of his first year in the WAFL.

Not sure about that, he'll be ready to play seniors straight away.

I would rather have Josh Lindsay over Farrow, Duggan and Taylor.

And the recruiting team should and would get sacked chasing instant success over the better player long term.
