If it's one of our extra rookie picks that's ok

Though if it's in addition to Robertson and Macrae the downside to that is it's going to be harder for younger inside mids to get time in the middle in the WAFL potentially
Beagles are a development side, its up to the coaches to manage minutes.

Do we have enough rookie spots for another mature age player and all our NGA's, assuming two taken in the ND?

Do you reckon a bloke with this kind of write up is pick 1/2 worthy?

If Dyson Sharp kicks the winning goal in a Grand Final for us, all will be forgiven.

In all seriousness though, I was thinking of Dom Sheed when people kept mentioning Dyson Sharp was a Larke medallist. Yeah, Sheed had a decent career overall but if our pick 2 had his kind of career (2018 finals series aside) we'd be left disappointed - injury plagued, rarely having BOGs, top 10 player at best with stints in the WAFL even after being dropped for poor form. We spent pick 11 on Sheed by the way and this may be around where Dyson Sharp will fall on draft night.

A month ago Dylan, one of the hosts on True Footy who is a massive nerd when it comes to the draft said Duursma would've been drafted somewhere after Harvey Langford if he was in last years draft, as how 'weak' this years draft is.

This thing isn't an exact science, and neither of these opinions are right or wrong, but when I watched that ESPN draft thing yesterday and Jasper said Duursma would've gone number 1 last year I was like huh? 🤨
Hard to agree with that personally. Looking at them attributally, Duursma has a lot less question marks than Langford did pre-draft. There were concerns Langford could be a bit vanilla at AFL level, lacking athleticism (albeit with decent size).

Duursma has a much higher ceiling with his size and athleticism. He's also very well performed throughout his junior career with only really Sharp a debatable peer within his class.

interesting from the club, confirms the NB deal extended, and should be taking 1&2 unless an offer we can’t refuse per the disclaimer. Much to read between the lines in the order of names listed 🤣? IMG_4179.jpeg

Id be happy with this but think we'll need to get that 13 down to 9 for Essendon to take it. We need to trade with Carlton for that to happen. 5 and 6 for 2 and 9 if fair....if fair is what we are after.
That is not even close to fair. 2 and 15 is equivalent to 5 and 6 . 2 and 13 would need to see a third rounder come back our way, 2 and 9 would need a mid 2nd rounder come back. In a "shallow" draft with a high number of academy picks in the early stages, our picks 1 and 2 have a very high premium attached to them. If anyone wants those picks they have to pay dearly for them.

South Australia's No.1 draft prospect Dyson Sharp has opened up to 7NEWS about his dream to be picked up by Essendon which he has supported his whole life.

The love he spouted out in the interview is gross. Absolute swoon over Essendon, and Heppell. 🤮

Not suggesting you only draft club fans with how footy mad kids are, but surely his bombers hard on piques Essendons interest.

A trade with Carlton for pick 9 will only happen live come the pick.

We really just need the option to trade for the pick if the player we want is still available with the guarantee we don't bid on Dean.

Doubt Carlton would be blackmailed into that arrangement and will call our bluff, knowing we are Mr Nice Guy.
If you bid on a player, can you then live trade with the club that is linked to said player?

I'd bank on at least one of them not living up to expectations next year, particularly St Kilda a good chance to miss finals and have a top 10 pick.

For all their signings, I don't think they stack up against the top 8 teams and I have a hard time seeing them leapfrog Bulldogs & Swans into the top 10, let alone top 8.

I somewhat agree on Saints, certainly they are going for it though, just think it'll be too much of a risk for us to bother with.

It would potentially go something like 13 + 34 for 9 + 54 followed by 2, 9 + 41 for 5, 6 + 27. Leaves us with 1, 5, 6, 27, 54. Clubs aren't paying high premiums. The incentive isn't there to do so.

Anyone else a little bamboozled by the talk of tylah williams as late first round - second round prospect .

In 8 colt games he kicked 4 goals (as a 17 year old he average a goal a game)
1 in 2 league appearances
And 3 at u18 champs

To me he screams rookie prospect.

I wouldn’t match a ND bid with the prospect of missing out on Evans or Banfield. They are better prospects imo.
The hype on Williams seems purely to do with the combine. We already have a small fast agile kid in Champion , do we really need another ?

Couple of weeks on, I'm still Duursma and Robey at 1 and 2. Couldn't be more obvious to me! then another mid at 13 or after trading up to 9 Grjl would be ideal but Hibbons-Hargrave could be a good back up option.
I like Duursma, Robey and Dovidson , but NHH or Grjl at 9 would be ok as well, would be nice if a Sharp or Cummings slips through to 9.

More than one small, fast agile kid?

I'd say yes given the absolute trash that is our small forward stocks.

(Cripps not trash but old and coming into his last season).

2 and 9 on its own is worth 5 6 and 27. No need to add 41 to that. 1,5,6,27,41. WD, Sharp, Cummings, Riley Onley or Emmett, Banfield. Rookie list Evans . Or trade 6 and 27 to Richmond for pick 3 . go in with 1,3,5,41,58 . WD, Robey, Sharp, Banfield , Evans.

I would prepare yourself for this reality. I have.

Can only hope we get 9, Dees take Farrow and Sharp or Cumming slide.
I've resigned myself to duufter 1 2. We need to bid on uwland at 2 and see if blues come calling at that point.

Cummings the enigma this draft. I sense he could well be taken by the tigers. Interest in Grjl has cooled and it seems Robey Taylor is more likely. But, as you know, Cummings safe and robey the risk might change there mind.

I think after his lovefest presser bombers might well take sharp with there second.

1.
WC Duursma
WC CDT
Tigs Robey/cumming
Tigs taylor
Ess Robey/cumming
Ess Sharp
Dees grjl/farrow
Dees Schubert

Essendon will need 41 to match bids, hence including 27 and not 30. Bump 27 up to 21 if you like.

We need an advent calendar for the 8 days until Xmas

On the seventh day from draft night my true love gave to me
7 shirtless Devs
6 delisted free agents
5 ngas
A 4th farkn Duursma
3 no name train ons
2 turtle doves
….and this big mobile guy that’s really quite good but we are still slightly unsure where he’ll end up position wise CDT

I doubt it. If you bid that means you have used your pick until that bid is matched and you are reallocated the next in line.
Any trade would have to come prior to bidding.

I’m assuming he chose Essendon because of his name being Dyson?
