Had there been any formal confirmation regarding both Robertson and/or McCrae? Or even just sonething informal like a radio interview from Puke or Clarke?

I say this coz perhaps we've told McCrae his spot is contingent on how many draft picks we take - or does that not influence our ability to add McCrae at all?

Robertson yes, but nothing official from the club on Macrae though

Pyke was asked about him by Duffield in his interview on Wednesday but only confirmed we were in discussions with him, not that any commitment had been made

The report was from Josh Gabelich on the AFL.com site and he’s usually pretty reliable.

Macrae is also absent from the list of draft nominees so you’d think he would be there if he wasn’t certain of getting picked up post draft

Nothing is certain though until a contract is signed I guess, and we could do a St Kilda and pull out late but I doubt it

Be surprised if he’s not training at Lathlain on November 24 with the rest of the squad and new draftees

Edit: Robertson and Macrae will be signed onto the rookie list so have no impact on our 5 picks in the main draft

NOVEMBER 11 — EAGLES SET TO SIGN SSP DUO IN COMING WEEKS

West Coast have reportedly settled on the signing of two Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) players at the beginning of pre-season ahead of 2026.

AFL Media’s Josh Gabelich reported on Tuesday afternoon that ex-Collingwood midfielder Finlay Macrae and delisted Brisbane player Deven Robertson have been offered contracts, which they will be allowed to sign come November 24 when the SSP signing window opens.

The news comes after West Coast received four extra rookie spots as part of their special assistance package that the AFL provided them in September.

Robertson has long been linked to the Eagles as a Western Australian, while news of the club’s interest in Macrae has come more recently.

We got those 4 extra rookie spots as part of our "we're shit" package from the AFL. List squeeze is on the senior list so signing Macrae and Robertson to the Rookie List won't affect our ability to draft.

You really need to do more in a game than a few tackles & pressure acts though. That should be your minimum output on a bad day out, not your entire return.
If you're doing nothing offensively then your opponent tends to have a field day, with nothing to worry about.

Williams is also tiny. He's at least 2 years away from being able to stick any tackles and once putting on size you have to wonder about all these so called amazing combine results.

How many more small forwards do we need ? Are there any others in the 2026 draft that we have our eyes on ?

I've always bought physical media. My spare room looks like an old school Blockbuster after 20+ years. But even I've moved past DVDs!

Reckon a decent player will fall to our pick anyway, especially if us or tigers do a dean bid and Carlton’s 2nd pick goes behind ours.

Funny that there hasn’t been the go-home narrative for Willem that the vic media slapped on Harley. Both vic country lads, both unanimously tipped to go number one. It’s refreshing that the media have backed off.

I voted for Sharp in the poll but given my limited knowledge of the young fellas I won't be disappointed when we pick CDT until it's proven I need to be.
Would be nice to pick up a midfielder but I guess best available is the way to go with our 3rd pick, no point picking midfielders for the sake of it

Keys - reference see the bolded bit - with the estimated figure, of only 57-60 kids being drafted, being bandied around by Cal and a few others, I think the likelihood of all 4 of them ( Williams, Evans, Wally and Banfield ) from our F/S or NGA, having bids on them, is remote at best.

Worst case IMO, is that we have to match a bid on Williams a tad earlier than we would prefer.
( Having seen him play live I am a big fan of his and think he has a lot of AFL traits, I would be thrilled if we could nab him.)

I would be very surprised, if the draft goes as I think it will, that we are not able to land all four, if we want them.

If we could land them both that would be good, both have some real tricks and both have had their draft years interrupted badly by injury.

Evans in particular has a lot of AFL traits as he can extricate himself out of the contested situation with real damaging speed, he has a degree of evasiveness thats a point of difference, also very handy around the goal face.
If he can harness his ability and stay healthy, then getting him could well turn out to be a steal.


Wes has some tricks but he needs to also concentrate on the less spectacular basics, he doesn't need to try to take mark of the year every game.
Also needs to clean up his shots for goals because when you play deep in the pocket "starvation corner" you really need to make every opportunity count.

Really want Evans and Walley while he would be a nice pick, I would want Evans before him.

They were calling Harley a 'generational talent' 12 months before the draft. Perhaps the perceived difference in talent has them not putting the spoilt brat efforts in.
