He's completely different to both and would actually complement our current forward line perfectly, not that you'd expect him to play straight away. He's not a big power forward like Tex or a Ryan O'Keefe style lead up and link forward like Lynch. More like a Gunston with a huge kick and a penchant for hangers. Admittedly this assessment has come from limited knowledge but I think it's pretty close to the mark.I would be disappointed if we took Burton with our first rounder because I don't think a medium tall forward is a great need for us with Tex and Lynch both pretty young. I think a project KPF is a need in the next couple of years but it doesn't sound like that is what Burton is.
It was interesting listening to Peter Schwab or maybe Gary Buckenara on road to the draft a few weeks back. He said he thinks "someone will probably use their second round pick on Burton".
Was initially looking early 2nd round but is climbing all the time. Recruiters looking for guys on big improvement swings in their draft year (a la Bontempelli) as they generally keep that upward swing going. Had some huge games for Centrals late in the year after not even really being on the radar last year. Maybe even top ten but probably 10-15.Anyone know the pick outcome prediction for Milera? Cheers
I don't know. Burton just screams GUN to me. Could be a Lever type selection for whoever gets him. His ability seems to outweigh his height. Bit like Modra (comparing heights, not ability).I would be disappointed if we took Burton with our first rounder because I don't think a medium tall forward is a great need for us with Tex and Lynch both pretty young. My worry is does he have the size to play midfield in the AFL ?? I like what he brings to the table though. Was initially looking early 2nd round but is climbing all the time. Speed, evasiveness, foot skills, loves a goal; is exactly what we don't have in our midfield. Would imagine the club is looking very closely.
Jake Stringer comes to mind. Bad bad broken leg, Dogs take the punt and BANG.I don't know. Burton just screams GUN to me. Could be a Lever type selection for whoever gets him. His ability seems to outweigh his height. Bit like Modra (comparing heights, not ability).
I would be happy if we called him name out at draft day.Jake Stringer comes to mind. Bad bad broken leg, Dogs take the punt and BANG.
Question is, does anyone know how the injury rehab is progessing ??I would be happy if we called him name out at draft day.

Thanks mate for the reply. Yeah I watched him in a couple of the last games and he looked bloody good. Would be very happy with the pick 13 going there. Was initially looking early 2nd round but is climbing all the time. He could well become a gun but I don't think he fits into our forward line with Lynch and Walker. We need someone to be a marking target up there - like what Jenkins currently provides - which means we would have to play 4 tall forwards. This could possibly work with the sub no longer existing. We might decide to play 3 tall forwards and 2 genuine ruckman.I don't know. Burton just screams GUN to me. Could be a Lever type selection for whoever gets him. I'm fairly sure he'll go first round.
I'm sold on the fact we want geelongs pick 9 for harry McKay , he's 7 days too old for the 2016 draft where he would be considered consensus number 1 or 2 pick in that draft
That's good enough for me , would be like getting
lever at pick 14 again
Tucker is a good chance for our pick 13 with milera unless we trade it next week , potentially for menzel where we may also receive a sweetener

Agree around 10-15 but it's even possible that he goes anywhere from pick 4 ...things can change closer to draft and he has performed in sanfl finals against AFL listed players , not many have done that in this draft or had that opportunityWas initially looking early 2nd round but is climbing all the time. So much doubt with his injury. Worse than stringers so I would take him but only if we upgtade our 2nd rounder and he's thereI would be disappointed if we took Burton with our first rounder because I don't think a medium tall forward is a great need for us with Tex and Lynch both pretty young. He's at the Combine, so we should get some indication there. It is a huge risk taking a player whose had such a massive injury and has yet to play a game in over 18 months. Burton has had a large number of pins inserted into his leg (think it's ten). Apparently the injury was very substantial.
Does he even have any spring in his legs or how does it affect his kicking. No one knows because no ones seen him since the injury.
Sure high risk for high reward but a first round pick should not be that high risk a pick.
This is not like Lever,a knee reco is quite standard these days and players come back from them all the time.
Having said that if the Crows are considering taking him then I'm sure they'll do their due diligence.
A medical examination and a try out must be the minimal assessment you would subject him too.
Why take the risk when there are good picks on the board with no question marks by their name.
If we manage to snare 2 first round picks ( Dangerfield) then perhaps I would be more agreeable with the choice.
I'm guessing he'll be a slider unless clubs know more about how well he has recovered and are comfortable with that..
Done..Thanks bicks
Also a good draft hub on the age website that gives bios on each player and comments from coaches or talent managers ... Even character assessments from some , brenton Phillips good with his . I'll try post when get to a computer
Thanks mate , good readEmma Quayle has put up her 2015 National Draft Combine Harvester for all likely draft chances, including their coaches run down on their talent skill. Excellent read.

Could be this year's bolter. Word is the difference between 4-20 is very little. Would be much happier with him or Burton than McKay or Tucker.Agree around 10-15 but it's even possible that he goes anywhere from pick 4 ...things can change closer to draft and he has performed in sanfl finals against AFL listed players , not many have done that in this draft or had that opportunity
I'm obviously a McKay fan due to his rapid improvement curve and traits including his height and agility /speed mix , Burton I like but the injury scares me ... Milera tick just what we need and could say the same for tucker .. all great options...love what Phillips said about milera , he has the spunk and we need more of those types rather than just honest work horses that lack a touch of classCould be this year's bolter. Don't like that Tucker's stagnated/gone backwards this year. Never a good sign. When guys play the whole year and still drop down the order, be wary. Feel like he's a run straight half back flanker too which is not really worth a first round pick. Yep get your points , tucker more a needs pick now than best talent out of those guys aformentioneDon't like that Tucker's stagnated/gone backwards this year. Never a good sign. McKay has good traits; quick and agile for a 200cm guy and almost a bottom ager but I don't think his skills are up to that of a 1st
rounder.
