List Mgmt. Draft Watch 2015

Would love to get this kid into the club. He will play a lot of AFL footy I have no doubt. Zoomer Mach2.
I like Haysmans speed and lateral movement, is a pure mid in the Travis Boak mould. Riley Bonner who is SA kid and rated highly in phantom draft also looks a beaut. Great speed, lateral movement and a bullet like precise kick. Will be a midfielder in due course. I actually like him more than Milera. Just something special about the way he moves

Considering we've just recruited two fairly young, tall running half backs, I would be more than surprised if we picked up Bonner. It's funny how he's regarded as 'the best kick in the draft'. If you look at his U18 highlights, he regularly turns the ball over. Also didn't score well in the kicking test at the combine.

We now have 12 players on our list who are non KP defenders. Feel like that area's fairly well accounted for. Which also counts out Darcy Tucker for all the enthusiasts out there.
His highlights are great, but with his lateral movement should b able to transition to midfield easily

Is there any chance whatsoever that Aaron Francis slips through to pick 9? I'm finding it difficult to figure out what is happening with these academy players and how that might shape the first round. Do we go for another pick swap to get an earlier pick?

Haysman won't be drafted but mote likely rookie list for a club

Not so sure about that, Haysman has pace and is very clean with his hands. Brings a lot of energy to his team and won't take a backward step.
His state testing might just put him into some teams late picks. Played league football most of the year and never looked out of place.
Haysman is a very handy footballer.

He may be but odds are against being a state combine attendee only

Of course a chance late if a rookie chance

Im wondering if Nobles comments re: Francis and Milera are smoke and mirrors and we might be in for Burton and Mckay...

I like the idea of Burton - South Australian, rated as a top 3 draft pick prior to injury, has done his rehab properly and has huge upside *cough Lever cough*

Harry McKay has played as a forward throughout his career (JJ replacement) but could easily play back or as Ruckman...

Given we have two top picks in this years draft would be happy to take a punt on two talls and worry about the midfield in 2016 (we have talent for days in the midfield at the moment)

Wouldnt be surprised if Francis slips.
Injured in the back half of the year. Didnt test. Not sure how he would go being relocated as well.
Has a very close tight family. Think it might worry a few Victorian teams.

If he does, Im going Francis at 9 and Burton at 13.

Francis is not slipping past Essendon. Guaranteed!

I agree re 2 talls in draft , I've changed to this post the trading we have done

I'd go McKay at 9 and Collins at 13 .... If Collins not there then Burton ( if sound)

Collins is a man child and plays like a modern day Ben rutten- a beast that has a bit more offence than truck , he'd play next year if required and do a good job no doubt

Get the mid next year with first pick or trade a gun mid in if we can

Essendon will take another key forward I think. With their other pick maybe Parish if he's still around. There's a chance Francis last till 9 but slim at best.
If they must I hope it's Weideman not McKay, though I'd be comfortable with either at the AFC, just hope they all steer clear of the 2nd best KPD in this draft Keiran Collins as probably the only other KPD I'd be interested in is coming off an ACL Sam Skinner.

There's been quite a few whispers about us being keen on McKay. Is that just bf rumour or is there some substance to it?
It's just opinions .....we need a KPF ....best available at around our picks are Weideman and Mackay

Mackay has a lot of development & weight to gain ....but is probably best KPF at #13

Weideman more likely available at 9 .....but we need to also get a mid

I'm going to assume the club will try and build Menzel to play in the midfield, as he's the classy, potentially elite left foot mid that we need.

My preferences before this trade were two classy mids with very good skills and minimum above average pace. Dont have to be elite pace. Good footskills a must.

Now I would go for one of those mids and a KPD with either 9 or 13. If Hartigan does come on as a reasonable defender, we would still need another good KPD. I would earmark Lever to play the floating and rebounding tall as he looks amazing at this.

Haysman already had exposed form from the under age premiership team which recruiters would have previously tracked closely.
Then from day one of this season Haysman played league football in the seniors at Westies, (apart from carnival duties).
At every game I attended there were at least half a dozen scouts at each game. (Get to know who they are quickly by simple observation.)
Yes this is a normal practise but they've had more than an ample opportunity to see Haysman, Snelling, Agostino, Francis, Keough, Wasley-Black, Beech and a few others.
The state combines would have highlighted a few aspects of Haysman's physical attributes but that's not the deal breaker.
His overall performance for the year is how they will judge him and he played enough games for them to get a handle on his ability.
Personally I feel he had a stellar season for a first year player and will go in the main draft.

The player who hasn't had much discussion about him but impressed me was Agostino.
Balanced, composed, a good mark, a long and accurate kick. His use of the ball was always good and he's a decent size.
I wish we had a couple of more picks in the draft because he would be a very good pick up.

Jeff,
Based on this where do you see Mitch Hibberd?
Our 1st rounders too early for him I obviously?? Would be a good addition with height and size. Potential Mundy/Fyfe type mid? Injuries have been a problem but so was Lever before the draft. Has great endurance, 3km and excellent by foot at the combine.

He may be in the mix with our 13, is a ready to go player ...I think he will be in our list but we might have 4 or 5 ahead of him so it depends who is available, certainly a chance for 13 and I wouldn't be disappointed

So far he seems like a half back/ wing with average pace or just above but elite endurance , good kicking skills , good size and a very good contested mark

I think his contested marking is his best feature and his ability to come 3 rd man up and take a mark ( similar to Francis in this way)

I can't see why he couldn't develop into a full time inside mid like the Freo guys you mention who would be a tricky match up with his running power and marking

Definitely in the mix I think

Yeah I like Snelling and bonner , they will go in second round I think ...maybe touch later for Snelling

Agostino another rookie chance I think, I'm with you I like him

This draft will maybe only have 40 picks and then rookie elevations , there's clubs (eg us) that will be done v early in the piece so they can't all be selected

Usually if you miss the national combine then you may struggle to get picked up as you don't have multiple clubs interested and it comes down to a bit of luck

I think Jordan Dawson from Sturt might get picked up...188cm hybrid forward

Mmm....won't go KPD ....if that was in our plans we would have got Michael Talia ..so count that out

Certainly another strong marking mid for one pick .....depending on availability a KPF (to replace JPod) or another mid

We don't take flankers with first round picks

Im thinking Mathesion and McKay
Sadly had my heart set on Curnow as you know :(

I believe there's a chance Weideman will fall to us 9 IF we want him?

I like Mckay at 13 ...but depends on Weideman at 9

If Weideman gone ......do you prefer at 9:
Oliver ....marking contested mid
Milera ....smart Aish type footballer
Burton .....talented but horrific injury

Been a bit put off Mathieson due to poor endurance performance

Weideman or McKay???

Oliver is the safest option. Milera I love his work especially at SANFL League games. Burton is the most talented though.

In my opinion Oliver has the explosiveness and abilty to win the contested ball that could in two years replace Thompson. Oliver will play round one and will have impact like Wines.
