Not at all, he had a fantastic junior career before he was injured. Every club knew of his talent, that's how he got selected in the All-Star game despite missing almost the whole season.

I think you're seriously misjudging the amount of work and attention to detail that goes into scouting and drafting.

Seriously ...do i sound like a wet nosed novice ......you're giving clubs too much cudos for not being influenced by late form /injuries which over rides their scouting over 2-3 years

If i had the desire ....i could name 20+ instances at the top end of the draft

I like the look of him but that's a 2 minute compilation of him in the TAC Cup against scrawny kids. He wasn't good enough to make the U18 Champs this year and has only caught the attention of those writing up top-20 phantom drafts after a strong finish to the TAC Cup comp. Clearly talented but he looks like he's dominating purely due to his strength - will that translate to AFL success?

He was playing regular A grade footy at Shepparton when he was 16, I think he finds the ball himself and will continue to do so.

I was annoyed we gave up 28 to Carlton would have gone future 2nd to get this over the line, there are 6 gun crowy's in this draft, think francis go before 9 My order (AA - All Australian U18)
1. Burton (9)
2. Bonner (13) AA
3. Francis AA Country Boy
4. Snelling AA and League Premiership.
5. Partington AA Country Boy
6. Milera Good league SANFL experience.
There is a good chance one of the last three will be available at 28 particularly Snelling, think all 6 are 200+ gamers

If we have to go to a Victorian Oliver is a standout. PS if Schache drifted which wont happen you would take him.

We didn't have a future 2nd to give.

Exactly, and it shows a flaw in our last couple years of list management (though they've also got a few things right as well!).

We needed to get rid of a couple extra players allowing us the picks to get Hartley/Brown types to better balance the list. Unfortunately, those blokes we should have got rid of in last couple now have no trade value and most have multiple year contracts so we are stuck with them.

I hope that if someone suitable slides to 71 that we take them, then delist someone under contract if need be to allow Kelly to be upgraded at a later date.

If we got a genuine tall (McKay style), big skilful athletic utility/mid (Francis style) and a ready made KPD (Hartley/Brown) from the drafts then we have nailed it.

The big ? is whether we take Milera if still there at 9?

We would have O'Brien and Ramsey on the rookie list, plus 40 on the senior list. Therefore we could draft two new rookies.

Hoping we can get one of Weidemann/McKay along with one mid.

Would be interesting if both McKay and Weideman are available at 9 which we would take. Would be even more interesting if we took one at 9 and thew other was available at 13 - would we go two talls? Could Weideman develop in to a powerful defender?

What if both were gone? Do we go two mids? If both talls are gone, then it means we have a great chance of getting to very very good mids. One inside and one outside would be perfect.

Of course they're influenced by late form and injuries, they take everything into account. Guys who show rapid improvement during their draft season - like Bontempelli - go up the draft order, as history has shown those guys generally maintain that upward swing. Which is why Milera and Oliver have shot into top ten calculations this year. Whereas those who stagnate or go backwards, go down the order - see Darcy Tucker, who was touted as no.1 a year ago, now looks like being mid teens. But it's an informed decision, they've been following most of these guys since they were young teenagers. Nakia was well known as a junior star, he wasn't drafted after one good game.

And then you've named 3 guys who were drafted 7, 14 and 5 respectively after some injuries and turned out to be good players. I'm really not sure what you're trying to say there, so in answer to your first question, yes.

Bonner looks good and most appear to like Harry McKay (may have misspelt his last name). Would we chance burton if he is available?

I do have a feeling we will go best available for both picks as they are so high. I do wish we had our 28 as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we delisted more and took extra Rookies. One year to look at them without wasting 2 year contract on guys that won't turn out. If they are no good, load up again in the 2016 draft? We do seem to do well with Rookies anyway.

Milera is a scrawny kid but under Essendon's tutelage he'll be massive within a year.

With a pharmacist as coach there is no disputing that.
