I think we are going to go with elite kicking as a priority and there are a few lefties there too.

Would love Francis, but I did like watching Bonners left kick. Still love Oliver! Can't get enough of his playing style, good replacement in the middle for "somebody we used to know.... " Actually reminds me a bit of Wines (dare I say it). I think he will be a gun.

Justin Reid mentioned that we may still have to cut 2-3 players and there are still a couple out of contract. Apart from Wright (about to walk the green mile), who else is out of contract?

Kicking has been a very important selection criteria for years, what with all the zones employed ......they say this years draftee group suffer a bit "generally" in that regard

But still the Crows # 1 criteria is a real competitive nature .....and winning you're own ball

Pure outsiders at U18 level have a massive failure rate at AFL level

Knightmare's is probably the gold standard but they all tend to magically match Emma Quayle's by draft day

Most recognised phantom draft experts get profiles pretty good .....but draft order changes so often and ends up more in line with club rumors/links than the phantom's own thoughts

Knightmare .....has good draftee profiles ....but i don't put too much creedance on his draft order

Skippos .....i find is pretty astute & knowledgable

Young Talent Time .....never sure what he's on ....don't read, never close to reality

Paige Cardona .....is one of my favorites, very astute and gets close to the mark

Snoop Dog ......is a favorite read & i love his thoughts

But no-one knows the individual needs of every club .....and clubs do draft to needs

Gore was a player that, when I was at Hawthorn in his draft year (2014) we rated in the 20s-30s but slipped to pick No. 55. If he was in this year’s draft I’d say he’d go between picks 15-25.

Oliver is a big bodied inside midfielder who has a few different tricks. He wins his own ball easily, and while he has a large frame, he needs to develop a bit more physically for his game to translate to the AFL. Oliver can go forward and take a strong mark, and his finishing around the goals is excellent. Oliver is a strong tackler and a hard worker who runs both ways. Interestingly, Oliver tested much better than most expected in the speed and agility drills, which perhaps raises his ceiling in the eyes of recruiters. He ran a 2.99 20 metre sprint, which isn’t jaw dropping, but it’s pretty good for an inside midfielder. His agility time of 8.11 seconds was third in the entire AFL combine, and incredible feat that will no doubt be taken into account on draft night

Day One - Skills Testing

NORTHERN Knights captain Jade Gresham was the star on day one, dominating the skills testing in an evening session at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

Gresham, a 177cm midfielder, was one of four players to kick truly with all five of his set shots in the goalkicking test.

Nick O’Kearney, Oleg Markov and Morrish Medal winner Clayton Oliver also registered perfect scores.

He may not make it to 9? .....if Essendon miss Parish to Melbourne now as expected, Milera maybe Essendons next preference as they need to get some midfield speed and replacements for the aging Watson and Goddard

Milera is a scrawny kid but under Essendon's tutelage he'll be massive within a year.

That's my wonder - is he only good when he has size on his opponents?

Look at his one grab hands .....that's not due to strength ....one touch hands are a sure fire indicator of good footballers

He's inside but with great agility .....doesn't panic

"Clayton came in for pre-season feeling pretty sore. He's played a lot of footy over the years and his groin and adductor areas were a bit of a worry so he couldn't do much up until February. But as soon as the footballs came out and started game simulation he looked like a really accomplished midfielder. His fitness needs some building up but that started to improve in the second half of the year and he's a very natural footballer. He's explosive from stoppages, he just keeps finding the footy and his footy IQ in terms of knowing how the game's panning out, finding teammates and finding the ball is quite elite. He played two games with Richmond in the VFL, and as soon as he was back on the TAC Cup field he was a class above. He can forward and take a mark, as well. He won the Goulburn Valley rising star award last year and they say he virtually played as a centre half-forward."

This kid looks like an absolute animal around the contest. Wouldnt be surprised if we grab him with one of our picks. As olgivie loves competitors. Alot will depend on what essendon, gold coast and carlton do. Im thinking essendon will go tall with picks 4 and 5 taking francis and weidemann, then gold coast maybe going tall aswell to replace dixon although maybe going with milera to replace bennell. Carlton will go with a forward imo maybe curnow.

IMO where our draft picks are located ....if we want Oliver we can get him

1. I do believe Milera will be gone b4 our pick BUT

2. The trading in of Menzel negates the need for a Milera type player

3. We need another contested inside, marking midfielder .....Curnow #1, Oliver #2
