Hopper will be bid on by Essendon. Too good to be bid on at pick 9. Kennedy more likely. That's why we will bid on hopper at 9. Guaranteed.

Ryan Burton (191cm, 90kg forward from North Adelaide)
This time last year, Burton was a top 10 pick and the best forward in the draft. But the broken leg has put a real dampener on things. He's a ridiculously good mark for someone his size and a genuine goal kicker. He was Jack Gunston like in 2014. I hope he plays some games before the draft, because I'm not convinced he is still drafted high otherwise. Huge bargain if his medical report is all good.
I go the the same clinic that Liptak works for, first time went with one doctor there and he (not Liptak) was a stuck up idiot that did a bad job, 4 years later going to get my knees repaired again with a different doctor at the same clinic and he is great (so far lol).
So it's random what specialist you get and how good they are, even in the same clinic lol. But I here very good thingss about Liptak though...

Liptak did my knee a few weeks back, much better surgeon than crumber off the pack. Did a year or two as a locum down here and people can't speak highly enough of him
Do they work from pick 1 down as far as bids go? And in what order do they roll out the academy kids in the bidding process? Random or estimate of best to worst?Hopper will be bid on by Essendon. Too good to be bid on at pick 9. Kennedy more likely.
I'm thinking either of these could be our 2017/18 lineup if both 9 and 13 are developed well. I'm assuming we take one of Burton/Francis (if available) and one of Hibberd/Tucker. If we take Burton, I believe we'll plan to develop Menzel into a wingman.
With Burton:
B: Laird, Talia, Brown
HB: Smith, Lever, Hibberd/Tucker
C: Menzel, Sloane, Knight
HF: Burton, Walker, Lynch
F: Betts, Jenkins, Cameron
R: Jacobs, MCrouch, BCrouch
I/C: Hampton, CEY, O'Brien, Gore
With Francis:
B: Laird, Talia, Brown
HB: Francis, Lever, Hibberd/Tucker
C: Smith, Sloane, Knight
HF: Menzel, Walker, Lynch
F: Betts, Jenkins, Cameron
R: Jacobs, MCrouch, BCrouch
I/C: Hampton, CEY, O'Brien, Gore
Certainly like the balance of the 2nd team more.
Id be happy with burton and Oliver. Not that I know jack shit about these kids!Ignoring academy selections....
Ok so I think that the first 7 picks are pretty well locked in to go in the first 7, although my order may not be correct.
Happy to hear other theories. Balic is the one I am most unsure about.

I have Carlton to go after Milera after that, as they have huge contested ball numbers but no outside class, and Milera shapes as a ready made replacement for Menzel. Milera fits two roles for the Blues as he can run on the wing and go forward and kick goals. I think they will use 8 on Milera because they will be worried about the Crows taking him at 8, and there are a few big forwards they can take at 11.
That leaves the following players for the Crows at 8. Whoever the Crows want with their two picks, the first selection is the one most at risk of selection from Carlton or Richmond. I would suggest that would be Burton or McKay. Carlton can afford to take a risk on either of those players with their picks. Not sure who Richmond are into, perhaps Tucker? Burton is mentioned by some. Maybe Ah Chee for the pace? Anyhow I like Burton at 8, and Oliver or McKay at 13.
Ryan Burton
Darcy Tucker
Rhys Mathieson
Callum Ah Chee
Jade Gresham
Kieran Collins
Harry McKay
Josh Dunkley
Riley Bonner
Clayton Oliver
Ryan Clarke
Mitchell Hibberd
With the influx of young outside players in the draft Bonner seems way to outside for me. Ah Chee & Gresham are too small/light for me as a first rounder.

Part 2 of the Darcy Tucker warts and all insight by the AFL draft hub...
Found it interesting that Adelaide was the only club that interviewed him twice at the Draft combine, looks like he's definitely on our radar when one of the questions at his 2nd interview included " whether I'd like to move to Adelaide?"....

I know that feel (or a similar one). I got my knee done twice at Sports Med. First surgery got done and my knee was the size of my quad. stuffed up, got the same surgery done a year later with a different surgeon and afterwards it was barely swollen. Hope your round two goes as well (hopefully a bit better, actually).

Do you think it is at all possible that the AFC asked every potential candidate from interstate "whether they'd like to move to Adelaide?".....
I would hope that is not an exceptional question to ask, or an indicator of strong interest.
Whether they would be willing to move to Adelaide is largely irrelevant, more importantly ask them if they already have a girlfriend!Do you think it is at all possible that the AFC asked every potential candidate from interstate "whether they'd like to move to Adelaide?".....

They may only ask those kids where there is a strong chance we will select them.
You would want to know the answer to that question to factor that in to whether they are a strong chance of being selected.
Otherwise why interview them?
Hence, every interview should contain that question, unless AFC are interviewing players they don't want to select.

well we had 2 interviews with him, so maybe that says more than the actual question itself

So does anyone know or reported what Burtons chances of a 100% recovery is like?
At least he was doing "some" testing at the combine ....good sign
AFC was the only club that asked for a 2nd interview the following day after the 1st day giving him an absolute grilling, that would indicate a level of interest to me, also asked him to draw some game structures etc at his 2nd interview, that would also indicate a level of interest to me ...
"The second interview was about different topics, and whether I'd like to move to Adelaide. They also had me to draw some game structures."
Whoever Ogilvie and the team settle on I'll be backing in because their recent record at identifying young talent is first class, that along with have far better resources at their disposal to judge individual players than rank "amateurs" like us Big Footy eggspurts...![]()
Wouldn't be happy using a 1st round pick on a half back flanker. Plus we already have a bunch.Preferred combination for me would be Francis and Tucker/Hibberd. Looking increasingly likely we'll get Tucker, going by that article. Would prefer Hibberd, but I'm fine with Tucker. He seems to have a bit of Seedsman about him except for being harder at the contest, though?
Its Jake Stringer. Burton will probably settle up forward switch on the bench with JJ allowing JJ to go in the ruck. Sort of like what hawthorn does when the have a ruck up forward e.g. hale.Reading between the lines I'd think we'd be getting Burton at 9 if he's available.
Just look at Jesse Stringer in 2012 or Selwood in 06, even Lever last year.
Hopefully Burton's knee holds up okay, I trust our medical staff, this guy could become a total gun for us as we start to push for a flag in 2018+, could be the next fyfe.
