I haven't seen Milera play?
Does he play on the wing? Outside mid?
Has played mostly half forward for Centrals I believe as he still has a boy's body. With time I see him as a classy wingman with his frame and pace. Hits his targets and makes good decisions. Has real evasiveness through traffic that gives him time. You know that type that seems to hardly notice the bloke coming at them and automatically sells the candy like a matador while he is computing his best option to pass to. Makes opponents look like silly storm troopers. His sidestep and candy selling are elite.

"He's jumping right up. He's got some skills. He'll play that high half forward role, maybe go onto a wing or even play off half back. He's really clever around goals, and he's a great character. He has a real bubbliness and a big cheesy grin, he has that bit of spunk about him."

phillips used him everywhere in U18S champs inc half back, wing, half forward. He looked silky all carnival but didn't find much of the football , ie had 10-15 quality touches a game (shortened games)

he really came into his own at end of season for centrals in sanfl inc 25 and 5 goals v glenelg , then a couple of really good sanfl finals playing up forward against AFL listed players (port magpies)...prob the best performed draftee in senior football in the whole draft (admiteddly some don't get the opportunity to play senior football)

i have no doubt he can develop into a versatile player that can be used in all 3 segments of the ground but don't see him playing much AFL football up the ground until he fills out a bit

wonder if francis would be there at 13?

Of all the draftees excluding the Weit, Schac and academees, wouldn't Francis be our #1 wish?

If so, no way should they risk not getting him if available at 9 ... would be like taking a risk on your firstborn hoping something else doesn't go wrong.

IF Francis spells out he wants to stay near his family at the interview stage then there might be no harm taking Milera first. I wouldn't want to be the bloke who has to make that call though

Having said that I bet they're both gone and we get some victorian inside mid who can't kick and some other random tweener*

*this is a coping mechanism

Milera showed some real class at SANFL level, in a couple of finals too. That is a great sign of a good player. Yes, Toumpas kicked a nice running goal in a grand final or whatever it was, but Milera kicked 5 in a semi. Rediculous.

Has Francis performed as strongly at SANFL level?

IMO Anderson has no idea if he thinks firstly Francis and Milera will still both be there at pick 9, secondly just can't see Ogilvie taking Milera over Francis given Francis has far more strings to his bow and is more likely to eventually play midfield than Milera IMO.

I'm not sold on Milera at all, just don't ever see him as a midfielder at AFL level, if we feel we need a midfielder then we should be taking just that, a kid that has a PROVEN midfield pedigree.
Of course you're not sold. He doesn't play play for the North Ballarat Rebels .

Milera can be a midfielder bicks , he has the tools and the awareness in traffic , and he cracks in ...he's not purely outside but has outside class

Reckon Shaun Burgoyne is a great comparison , obviously has a fair way to go to have the same achievements

Milera and francis are both guns. If were lucky one will be left by our first pick. Milera being compared to burgoyne is a fair comparison if you compare them before shauns premierships and experience. He is a jet. Any player that dominates against a magpies side heavily dominated by afl listed players is doing something right. Francis being compared to goddard is also valid. He reads the play well and can play in any position. Both are potential matchwinners. This is something we need to get with these high picks.

Emma quayle who has the inside word usually on draftees replied to a tweet i sent her about francis. She believes hes a reasonable chance to get to adelaide with their first pick.:D

hmm, i'd say there's a better chance Milera slips through to 16 in that scenario, as carlton will be looking for a predominately inside mid, Richmond may take Milera though but better chance they let him go then they would Francis. Who does he have Richmond taking?

Actually there is nothing wrong with Carlton's clearance and centre clearance numbers, they just suck everywhere else. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they selected Milera with their second pick.
