This my prediction for the draft up until our second pick, excluding academy picks. In brackets is what I hope happens, in combination with each other or on their own would help us.

1. Carlton - Weitering
2. Brisbane - Schache
3. Melbourne - Parish (Curnow)
4. Essendon - Curnow (Parish)
5. Essendon - Francis (Weideman)
6. Gold Coast - Milera (Mathieson)
7. Melbourne - Weideman (Collins)
8. Carlton - Mckay
9. Adelaide - Oliver (Francis)
10. Carlton - Tucker/Mathieson
11. Richmond - Ah Chee
12. Adelaide - Burton (Milera)

Burton said in his interview on afl.com.au that he has not cartilage in his knee, sometimes scar tissue can grow so it replaces the cartilage, but if it doesn't his knee will be bone on bone for the rest of his life. If it's bone on bone he will be like Cooney and not able to train during the week due to swelling after the weekends game. Drafting him will rely on whether they can detect if the scar tissue has developed.

The article said that we didn't talk to him at the combine, that we would catch up with him back in SA, this is probably because we will see if he lets us do a full scan on his knee.
If that's the case Burton will be a full time forward .......his thoughts of midfield and all the training & game day running required will be just a dream in the past

Why don't we have a pick 9 voting thread and a pick 13 voting thread that closes the day before draft and you can't change your vote.

That way there won't be arguments next year on who the general consensus was around. Will be interesting to see if mob rules.

I'm not convinced Curnow features inside the top 10. That and I haven't heard Curnow linked to Essendon strong as others such as Milera have been.

:):):):)

BTW my draft declarations are in my Signature .......have assumed Francis & Milera won't be available
Been declared a LONG TIME ago

Because we already have 2 draft threads going.

Why don't we have ten different draft related threads with slightly different angles?

you assume Francis and Milera won't be available but Curnow will?
That was my thoughts 4 weeks ago when did it ......not a believer in chopping & changing every 5 minutes with every rumor

Just a bit of fun ......We'll get two good players IMO anyway

This is a quote from an ex recruiter friend from SA.

Wayne Milera - Shaun Burgoyne eat your heart out. wow if only this kid racked up huge numbers, wow if only Shaun Burgoyne racked up big numbers. Looks like a skinny kid that would blow over in the wind but has toughness and physical presence of players a lot bigger than him. Can hit the ball with real speed and collect it cleanly, quick hands to dispose of the ball or a very accurate kick. The most skilful kid in this draft. Very good pace mixed with an incredible ability to stop and baulk makes him very hard to apply pressure on him. Even with all this he normally just takes the basic option rather than always trying to create. Have fun manning up on him because if you are not good in the air he will carve you up, at ground level he can swoop on a loose ball and get rid of it or be away before you really know what has happened. If you are after a high forward who can pinch hit in the middle this boy is your man. If he gets the ball 15 times in a game you know you are in trouble. No problems finding target inside 50, has that competitive instinct and agility and strength to get to the right position even when he is out positioned. One of the few in this draft who can truly become elite. The engine is the query and his ability to push himself hard to cover the big yards. The first non KPP or genuine mid to go in this draft. As high as 5 if that is what you need.

Going to be a very good player .......still find it hard to see him dropping to Adelaide

Just add a poll to this one and or the other one.

Faith
My thoughts on what we will do if we can
Pick 9 H Mckay
Pick 13 Mitch hibberd

plan B If H McKay is gone before 9
Pick 9 Francis
Pick 13 Tucker

Happy with either outcome

Can't see us taking both Francis and hibberd as too similar in their roles

Don't think there is any interest in Burton for what it's worth

So up to original poster or mod? Looks like with polls you can specify the max number of choices each user can make so if it doesn't really matter what order (9-v-13) players are chosen, just have the list of possible candidates as poll choices.

As much as I'm keen to take a punt on Burton at 13 I would be more keen on milera there if we snag Francis at 9.
I didn't think Milera would slide that far but with he and Francis considered flight risk I would be stoked with that outcome.

That would be a great outcome.

Both provide a lot of versatility being able to play back, forward or in the middle. At the moment I feel as though we have too many players that can only play the one role.

The fact there is are multiple pages in the other thread fighting about what the general consensus was last year on who we would pick suggests there is a place for such a thread.

I have said all along we will draft 《placeholder》. Just you wait and see after the draft. We'll get 《placeholder1》and 《placeholder2》.

He has been training at west lakes and utilising facilities and staff for a while. Sure he's had more than enough time for chats, scans etc.
Hamish will have already a firm idea wether worth drafting or not

Nearly everybody was posting for Cockatoo last draft. Lever was mentioned but it was all about the risk. I wanted Duggan or Marchbank. Some two metre Peter fans as well as Lachie Weller. Plus the downgrade pick swap occurred so there was lots of changing and rearrangement.Lots of names :drunk:

I have to disagree with you on this. Lever was the #1 choice pick until the goal by Cockatoo appeared on the board and then a ot of people jumped on board his bandwagon. Peter Wright was considered but most doubted he would slide to us. Weller was an afterthought for most. In the end though it was still Lever. Most sensible people knew the KPP has more weight than a mid.:)

Yes. Pretty much. I've had a look back.
