We apparently already have options to take up to two selections, so no need for mystery illnesses (which in any case would mean he can't play at any level for the rest of the year without raising eyebrows).

We've chosen not to, so either our second choice is going to someone who will have a higher pick than us, didn't nominate, or we decided not to take the punt on them after all.

Just seems strange if you have someone like Johnson who won't make it surely you hope to get another snelling

Don't mind Josh Green. Getting a big body mid in before the National Draft at the end of the year would be very handy.

It’s not like we’ll be struggling for lost spots either.

Hooker, Hurley, Gleeson, Ambrose, Zaharakis, Clarke, Johnson, Mosquito, BZT, Philips and Cutler all a reasonable chance not to be on the list next year.

I'd definitely keep BZT, Phillips, Hurley and maybe Hooker and Mozzie.

Agree that the rest of them are probably gone.

Ambrose can stay too, I actually think he should be in the seniors now so he’s good enough insurance player for next year.

You have to consider we don’t have a round 2 pick next year so at this stage we don’t have enough draft capital to suggest a high influx of talent coming in like last year.

Ambrose could be offered a 2 year deal by a club like Footscray. Reckon he’s much better than all their tall defenders not named Keath.

I don’t really see not having draft picks as a good reason to hold onto guys with zero future.

He'd be a good teacher for our young key backs. Ditto with Hooker.

They don't have to play a lot of games next year, but like I don't see the harm in keeping some experienced guys around the place.

Hurley is already contracted. I listed him hoping he’d retire

I think Kwaby Boakye is ready to be picked. Doesn't get a huge amount of it (15 touches per game), but is playing back with a strong midfield ahead of him.

He wins contests, kicks powerfully. Doesn't make many mistakes at all from what I have watched this year.

So we should hang onto blokes who aren’t in our current best side for pure depth purposes. I’d much rather take the risk on some mature age types like Waterman this year.
