Fremantle will unveil its first-round selection from last year's National Draft, Marcus Drum.

Drum, selected at pick 10 overall, will make his debut for the Dockers as they tackle Sydney at the SCG on Saturday night.

The 19-year-old nephew of former Fremantle coach Damian Drum was an All-Australian at under-18 level in 2004 and was the best and fairest for the Murray Bushrangers in the 2005 TAC Cup.

Drum has been in solid form for Perth in the WAFL this year, playing predominantly in defense.

I also noticed that Schammertime was dropped; good to see.

I have a lot of time for him and thats whay I truly believe he needs some time in the WAFL to get the "spark" back.

He is far too precious a commodity for us to be allowing to rot and trade down the track.

Get him back to AFL quality and get him out there so says me:thumbsu:

I suppose if we have to drop him now is the time, I always worry about dropping players at the end of the season if we have been struggling.
Urges to go back home can be inflamed.....Eg McPhee

That said though, adelaide is a hole.
Female wise, lifestyle and weather wise perth craps all over SA.
I dont really worry about loosing the SA players, its the Vic players that give me the greatest concern.

Drum has not exactly been battering the door down to get in.
His recent WAFL form has been average at best. It's only a few weeks ago that Medders completely took him to the cleaners.

On Medders: the guy took 15 marks last week. Missed a few shots at goal, and yes I've lost my hair over them, but at least he worked hard to get the pill and actually got it.
Others who are still in the team didn't make the same effort:confused: .

Thats what we need pill getters, something we lack and this his chance to get a sniff at the top level and maybe hes one of thoose whoore crap at WAFL and perform excellent at AFL level

"My Buddy" has been playing pretty good footy in a bottom 4 WAFL club, I believe he has earn't his spot with Freo. Good luck to him and hope this is the start of something great.:D

Has he even made the Demons best all year?

Peake wasnt in great form in the WAFL before he got called up for Freo. Some players just perform at a higher level when they play at a higher league

One Melee Dodd was the same.

I think it has more to do with not looking as good in a poor team.

Interestingly it seems to me that it is the Sowf's boys (Gilmore , Murphy , Rodger , Duffman ) that look a million dollars at WAFL level that seem to be having the most trouble grabbing their chances at AFL level.

Yeh I agree.
Still dont know who caught the flight yet. He was listed as emergencey so CC might yet pull a surprise.
Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Great to see the selection committee trying some new things. Medders is till developing as a player and they clearly want more defensive pressure from him, and better decision making. Plus his kicking has been offline. Drum may b play forward if you can believe what Harvey had to say. I am still a fan of developing players who are flexible about where they play, and while Murphy's role has been criticised on here for not being consistantly played in one position a player who can play forward or back has a big advantage.
