Reported on Channel 10 that the Blues have thrown 3 years, and a million dollars at him, to enter the pre-season draft.

Great player, would be a steal.

Good luck getting past Richmond.

So Hooper, Brennan and now Drummond are all meant to be entering the PSD?

Sounds like BS to me!

Can't some of your clubs actually develop your own players. Brisbane would be crazy to not give Drummond a new contract.

Can't wait till Gibbs, Murphy, Walker, Kruezer, Bentick, Simpson, Setana and Hampson all demand wage increases,

We'll see many of them be declined a satisfactory increase and the PSD will be a goalmine filled with unfulfiled talent from Carlton :)

apparently theyre offering 1 million over the next 3 years. how the **** can they afford that?!?!? they just signed up judd for 1.2 a year!!!

With Kouta and Lappin gawn and Whitnall unlikely to have a million dollar salary anymore id say that the blues have a fair bit of cash to throw around TBH

Not all of Judd's salary will be counted through the cap. It's closer to 800K from what I've heard and will be front loaded.

What do you mean 'not counted'.

There are measures in place to stop salary cap cheating. The AFL has already said they will investigate Judd's impact on the salary cap of his new club.

Arnt the Blues still on probation from their salary cap breaches ages ago. I'm pretty sure there was something in that that if they do it again they get ****ed on extra hard.

6.7 million was the cap am i not wrong? so drummond and judd take up 1.5 million of that for at least the next 3 years. thats just under 25% of the cap. for 2 players. most teams have what 44 players on their lists? what are they gonna pay the other 42 with?

once weve won 3 or 4 maybe even 5 grannies in a row, players will accept paycuts:)

Kouta was on the veteran's list, so only half his wage was counted in salary cap, Lappin got screwed in his last contract and whilst Whitnall will take a huge shave, they have signed Judd and contracts for Murphy, Gibbs, O'Hailpin will all be significant upgrades from their original contracts.

Plus players like Carazzo & Simpson will presumably be looking for improved contracts.

$6.94 mill per club in 2007, plus additional service agreements (payment to players for marketing etc) of $485,000 per club.

In 2008 it rises to $7.43 mill per club plus ASA 0f $519,000.

So essentially a salary cap of $7.95 mill in 2008.

Of course the players/clubs would already have taken into account the increase during contract negotiations.

ah, why?? this happens every single year. brisbane players are always reportedly leavin the club. it is farcical. e.g. this yr - players who are reportedly leaving: hooper, adcock, brennan, drummond, hadley, moody etc. very frustrating wen u are a lions supporter

Yeah, it must seem like that for Brisbane fans. Hooper, Drummund, Brennan all threatening in the PSD.

If they go, Brisbane deserve fair compensation.

Each club gets a marketing allowance they can distribute amongst players or give to one player if they want to. I think it is about 400k per year. Fair to say that Judd will be our most marketable player and will get the 400k every year.

Of course I am not sure how much of that Fev was getting previously so his next contract will be interesting.

Don't forget the whispers about Judd's mum getting a great new job to boot....
