To Cox or not to Cox is my dilemma... He has been my first player picked in my side for the past 5 years but I just think the emergence of Nic Nat over the preseason might just mean he will take the mantle as the #1 ruck and Cox will spend more time fwd.

If I take Nic Nat I can save $180k.... For me Kruezar is a must have at his price and potential, so am thinking 2x mid range improvers might be better than Cox/sandy/goldstein and a rookie in Giels or Stephenson who are likely to average less than 50

FYI,

BREAKING. Renouf has reinjured his knee and will miss rd1 and Lobbe is still listed 6wks away on off inj list. Opens massive door for Redden

If true I'm very tempted to go Redden(13)+ Giles(11)+ Stephenson (12)+ Sandilands(12)

Round 12 would be a bit dodgy but I'm not sure that I wouldn't upgrade Redden by then anyway ( if Renouf comes back in ).

News about Sandilands has been suspiciously absent though.

The ruck is interesting, Hale looks like a viable option for two mid price rucks. I'm thinking along the lines of ItsAllAboutMe....

Lueenberger looks like the ruck duty might not fall entirely on his shoulders and he'll lose points.

If im reading between the lines correctly

Giles, Redden, O, Rowe??

What's with the lack of Leuenberger in sides lately?

Hasnt scored super well in NAB so far. Although that shouldnt be a reason not to pick him. Could be a great unique.

If your picking Redden and O it basically makes you more incline to leave out Mumford, Sandi (R12 rucks). Im not sure their are any R13 rucks that look that great (Mcevoy maybe? although scores havnt impressed so far).

So basically down to Leunenberger, Cox, Jacobs for me or going 4 rookies

I'll garuantee McEvoy will outscore O. So will Lleuenberger.
During the NAB cup there are players who are out to seize their opportunities. Others are there to stay uninjured and prepare for round 1.
My concern about OS is that he should be one of those looking to seize his opportunities.

McEvoy spent over half the game on the bench against the Eagles so I wouldnt worry at all about his score....playing almost a lone hand in the ruck this year, they're not gonna burn him out in the NAB.

Im going the one premo ruck (with Redden, Giles and Steph)...really can't decide between McEvoy and Cox (who looks in amazing form).

Hickey is now on my radar as a bench warmer.

Cox/Redden (Hickey, *and then a choice of Giles, Campbell, Rowe, or OS or even Derickx if he gets a run)

Giles seems to have better JS so can go up in value on the bench over the weeks, awaiting a new ruck downgrade opportunity.

*Subjet to round 1 teams

Ill guarantee you that they will start the season 350k cheaper.

Ill also guarantee you Ablett, Swan, Boyd, Mitchell, Selwood, Murphy will score more than Dylan Shiel.

Thanks captain obvious. Obviously you still don't understand the basics SS of dream team and value. I can only try to help.

@Crozan you should be picking him than?
I still think the dogs have some very good young rucks coming along that will warrant time (Roughead, Cordy, Tom Campbell (mature aged)) ect

yes and yes.

Cheers, I'm considering going Minson Redden/Giles as my R1 & R2. Will free some cash to upgrade Houli to Goddard and Coniglio to Masten.

Is it worth it though? Cox looks in sensational form..

The word from Freo is that his calf won't stop him playing round 1, but the whisper around town is that the calf is a little worse than they are letting on - take of that what you will.

Judgement call, but between his turf toe and calf problem I'll be waiting in the wings watching him as an upgrade when he gets some form and points on the board.

I'm thinking about doing this too

Does Bailey's injury make any of the other Hawks rucks DT-relevant?

Roughy will take a while to get into it, but will get ruck time, as will Hale. McCauley could be a decent buy.

Am thinking of ditching Cox and making McIntosh (far cheaper) my first pick ruck, with Giles the next up, and Redden and Stephenson my bench.

With the free money I'm getting an extra gun mid in my team, Murphy.

Is this stupid?

Do you need to have a "premium" ruck anyway?

Sorry, 1st year DT'er.

If Cox scores 25 more points than HMac as long as Murphy scores 25 more than the other guy you will play then it's fine.

Firstly Sandi is a massive asset for Freo - one of the best rucks in the comp.

But it amazes me anyone is picking him for DT this year.

He is "over the hill" injury wise at his weight/age and given the type of injuries he is experiencing. The club will seriously manage his games - they've even said he will miss games to manage him, and that's without any serious injury

I think Sandi will definitely get a higher average this year but with missing atleast 5 games, so unless you're willing to burn trades the risk is massive and you'll get lower overall total points for the year compared to Leuen/McEvoy and others.

In comparison Cox is an absolute machine, coming off last years performance and the pre-season he's had this year he seems unstoppable and back to his all time best fitness, health and form - and his points are earned everywhere on the ground, only small proportion in actual rucking.

So for me its Cox and 3 rookies - Giles, Redden and Steph (depending on this w/e and selections of course)
