Why would an otherwise intelligent poster assume to know more than those dedicated to knowing whether a player ought to be selected or not, why would you not assume that after researching all year and then say WH and the club passes on any player you have your heart set on would you not think well they know stuff I dont?

You are setting yourself up for a fight, you will have to defend position just as BG11 has had to do with Talia all year. You dont put in the research why do you think you would somehow know better?

They will pick who they pick and that is that. Its their job, dont you think they would know how to do it better than you or any other BF posters.

I think we have a bit to offer West Coast.

I doubt we'll ever get Kennedy back but I would like to see us go after McKinley. Has never looked settled at West Coast and I think wants to come home. Dont think he'd cost us too much and would help us fill a gaping hole on our list.

I have no issue with your likeing the look of a player and saying so, I guess my beef is twofold, first the use of language and then the chest beating.

I would be ****ing furious implies that this is a no brainer decision and if WH should not see it that way then he is somehow remiss, why else would you be furious? Why not just say I like the way the kid plays and and what I have seen think he would be great at the club. Does not open you to criticism nor put you in direct conflict with whatever decision WH does make 4 months from now, based I am sure you would agree on a lot more than your observations, such things as psych exams, beep tests, endurance tests, medical reports etc etc.

And it allows for WH and the club knowing a thing or 3 more than you or I, and doing their jobs. Hey I dont know the first thing about the kid, he could end up being our pick or a higher pick, my point is why imply our selectors dont have a clue when you clearly understand that there is more too it than liking what you have seen of him so far.

Have a read at what I said. I have no issue with posters saying I like this player or that, in fact it is helpful to those of us that dont have a clue who is who in the TAC. If you understood my post you would see it is with setting yourself up as being a higher authority than those charged with doing the recruitment. If you or Mal think you are better than WH then why is it that you are here and not in an office at Visy working on whitling down the probables.

Because in my opinion, it is a no brainer.

Darling looks one of (if not the) best Key forward in this years draft. Many had him a clear pick 1 after the champs last year where he dominated. He has slid this year after an ankle injury and some less impressive performances (albeit as a 17 year old KPP against men in the WAFL). Could be boom or bust. He's either the next Buddy, or the next Thorp.

Many (the majority) on this forum (and experts outside it) agree.

Why not just say I like the way the kid plays and and what I have seen think he would be great at the club.

You can imply that response from my actual answer.

You can also imply my desire to see us to draft a KPP this year (and the best available one at that).

If WH doesnt draft a top quality one, then there had better be a bloody good reason why. Last year is a good example. Lucas was just way to good to be overlooked for any of the available talls.

As for who we take in the draft ..i will leave that to the people who go and watch the numerous under age games and devote their time and energy into selecting the best options for the club given the player availability.

I dont retreat from my assertion that stating you would be ****ing furious is unnecessary use of inflammatory language. But I realize now that perhaps you would not be ****ing furious with WH for bypassing him if available but furious at Darling for not being a better candidate. Somehow I doubt thats what you meant but I allow for its possibility. Because of course you would back WH in not selecting Darling if his medical report showed some hidden long term issue or worse his psych showed some behavioral issues that would not be welcome at the club etc, I am sure you see the point I am making. There are hundreds of possible reasons he may not get selected regardless of how good he looks to you today and I am sure you would want WH to exercise his better judgement even if that meant you being ****ing annoyed over it.

I genuinely misspelled intelligentsia (I think I left the s out not sure dont care) since when have we started correcting each others spelling? I was led to believe (by Thy) that it was a no no here.
