Lido Shuffle - Boz Saggs

I remember my parents throwing a party when i was a tiny tot and everyone singing the "whoooa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh" bit in the chorus.

I still love the "Silk Degrees" album.

The final countdown by Europe.

A staple of the Social scene when you are a young tacker.

I don't remember doing it but my mother swears that when I was a tot I use to sing along to "I remember you" by Frank Ifield :o That and "The decimal currency song" featuring "Dollar Bill" :D
Man you must be old ;) :p

Let Stick Together - Bryan Ferry

Not sure if it's the first song I remember hearing, or the first song I really liked, as my parents totally ignored the early-mid 70's. Most of the songs I remember from my childhood are from the sixties.

I clearly remember Physical by Olivia Newton John. I remember the film clip and thought it really was about aerobics. I woulda been three.

Recently found the Physical album on vinyl and had to buy it for ol' times sakes.

Also have strong memories of Little Boy Lost by ??? and also I Remember You by Frank Ifield. I still love both of those songs and especially sing Frank Ifield's single regularly.

popcorn by hot butter. my dad used to play it on the record player and we'd dance the night away.

also roxette I remeber well and also rhythm of my heart by rod stewart when I was like 5 or six (a beautiful song I might add)

Sorry about this, but my first recollection of a song is going to date me horribly, so to speak. It was "Irene Goodnight", by The Weavers. It must have been about 1952.

They did a sanitised cover of a Leadbelly song. The last line of the verse in their version read:

"Goodnight Irene, Goodnight Irene, I'll SEE you in my dreams".

Leadbelly's version, I found out 15 years later, said:

" Goodnight Irene, Goodnight Irene, I'll GET you in my dreams."

Leadbelly meant what he wrote. He was going to GET the girl, not SEE her. In mainstream, white music at that time, we got the bowdlerised version.

I particularly remember this song because my sister used to play it on the piano, to send me to sleep. Yes, there was a time when this was the only way to hear songs. We didn't own a record player until about 5 years later.

Edit: My sister ceased playing the piano, despite being brilliant at it. We traded the instrument in on our first television.
