Haven't read the rest of the thread but have heard from a very close source that Hawthorn were expecting to take Curnow with the very next selection after Carlton and Ed already had plans to move in with a Hawk teammate.

The fact that they took Tom Schneider in the RD potentially strengthens that.

Are you related to 30 year fool because you two must have swum from the same gene pool? I love this club just as much as you. The fact I don't rate share your views of our players doesn't make me any less of a supporter. I love this club and have followed it through its highs and lows. I also like the fact I believe we have the most intelligent and best behaved supporters going around.Well, I held this view until I read your posts.

I could easily argue the point on Yarran with you because like you I am a big fan, but also smart to realise he need to build his fitness to have a big impact and it will take time, but I won't. My dad told me never to argue with idiots so I will stop right here.

Dirk
You called someone a peanut, so you made your own bed flog.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that was the truth. He's been in the Hawks backyard and performed exceptionally well prior to injury. Happy to pounce on him first :thumbsu:

I agree. All reports seem to indicate that before his injury, he was easily the best player in the league. Add to that the fact that he has been right under the Hawks noses the whole time, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were after him too. He sounds like a huge talent, so I'm glad to have landed him in the Navy Blue.

Wouldn't be surprised if we pinched him from the Hawks. If you watch his interview, there was no mention of the Carlton recruiters being in touch with him before the rookie draft, and he gives the impression of being a little surprised about how things unfolded.

:)

Why wouldn't the Hawks have wanted Watson?

Schoenmakers is the only potential KPD on their list.

Stratton, Litherland and Gilham aren't power defenders.

They needed a big defender more than Carlton.

A tad ironic if you take into account their penchant for going tall early and wasting picks on Thorp and Dowler.

I was only joking previously about getting #35 printed on the back of my jumper, but I may just do it. From what everyone is saying about him, it sounds like we have discovered a diamond in the rough who could be a really good player for us.

He might be a diamond in the rough... but since we recruited him, at pick 18 in the rookie draft... some 100 players picked before him, he hasn't played a game and he hasn't even done any proper training... so what has changed since that your already calling for a number on the back?

first hand seeing is more reliable than third hand hearing... so i recommend you hold of the number 35 just yet... incase of course you at honouring the great Peter Dean

I am aware that he hasn't played an AFL game yet, and that we got him in the rookie draft. The things that really make me excited here are all of the reports from pre-season that say that the club is really high on him, the fact that he was easily the best player in the VFL last season and that he has the size and tank to come in and contribute next season. It's the same as anyone getting a jumper with number 10, 20, 24, 25, 26, 34, 39, 47 or 48 on the back. None of those guys have played a game yet either, but I'm sure that there are people out there who support them and are excited at their potential and what they could become.

As for the great Peter Dean, I would have no problems with repping him as well.
