COLLINGWOOD president Eddie McGuire was forced to defend his integrity at a heated annual general meeting last night.

The Magpies boss was angry at the questioning from the floor after being heckled by a handful of the 500 members present at the MCG's Olympic Room.
But the questions about the establishment of the Richard Pratt Cup for away games against Carlton and board appointments without members' approval - Winter Olympic champion Alisa Camplin was the latest last week - certainly got under McGuire's skin.
"I think there was a certain lack of respect tonight, which I was personally disappointed about," he said.
"The respect that was not shown to the position as president of the Collingwood Football Club was disappointing.

The greatest thing he done to save himself is the 3 year plan... I get the feeling that we are being lulled into a Terry Wallace 5 year plan. If we don't win a flag under Malthouse it will be the end of Eddie.

The way he has handled Victoria Park has left a lot to be desired, and let's not forget the pubs he had nothing to do with purchasing still haven't been sold.

One year later and we are in the same situation we were last year. It seems through all his huffing and puffing not a lot is getting done down at Collingwood.

Don't get me started on the Arizona training camp. Geelong don't need a training camp, yet they win two flags in three years. 800K could be spent better imo.

I have to agree with you on this. The thing I think we benefit most from the camps is the team bonding.

All depends doesnt it

They are spending alot of money on our footy department, the brought back buckley, they cant exactly win the game themselves, i am happy with the camplin appointment from what ive been told she is anything but a yes lady and wants a flag now.

In any case im sure they will see out the MM years at least, although that would mean someone has to run against them, doing anything in 2012?

I'm begging you Dave, just check your spelling and don't double up on threads, you posted 2 threads for our new recruits the other day and got both their names wrong in the titles and created a draft day thread when one already existed creating confusion, we fair dinkum look like the toothless stereotypes the opposition imagines when you do that.

As people Know I do struggle with this I am have Learning Difficulties.

You just have to PM the Problem or tell the Mods to fix them if they annoy You

Favs, that's a decision that would be made by the coaching staff and relevant experts. If Eddie interfered in that, he'd be completely out of line.

Dude that would be almost every post, this isn't about a learning disability, it's about checking before you post, I have no problem with you making a mistake but there is no learning disability on Earth other than laziness that can't correct a mistake before commiting to the post

I do somewhat agree with you, but I think you're under estimating how hard it is to win a flag.

"talent" is an over-used term to describe someone who is lazy and lacked work ethic

Nick Davis is someone who I'd say had a lot of talent actually. I tend to agree on your definition of the word though.

Eddie has given this club every chance, Jesus we lost a flag by a bee's dick against a merged concessioned superteam, and some swear Rocca's point was a goal and we should have won.

So much of this game is up to the footy gods, recruiting is not an exact science, injuries are not controllable etc

Eddie has worked magic, but presidents rarely win flags

Because there are always going to be winners, obviously.

Look, I've disagreed with a number of ways the club has approached winning a flag, but overall, I think they've gone about it reasonably well.

Did any of you guys hear his interview on SEN this morning about 9:45 ish. The morning show managed to get the bloke who raised the Pratt Cup issue, and then Eddie rang in to defend the club. Unfortunately, I didn't hear all the interview, but the snippets that SEN played during the day, Ed certainly got onto the front foot and let the bloke have it with both barrels.

You guys that think you can run the club better than our current president make me laugh!!!

The reason we haven't won a flag is NOT because of Eddie... It's because of the list we had during that time. If it weren't for Eddie in '99, who knows where our club would be.... At the time, there were whispers that a merger with St Kilda or Melbourne was on the cards was it not?

The only way to judge whether the Arizona trips are working or not is to have a year or two off the camp and compare results.... Impossible to determine due to many invariables!!

We need to focus on what we, as supporters, can do and that is, stick by the club at all times!


BTW Dazman, lay off DTM! I used to criticise him for his errors and endless thread starting but he means well and you can tell he bleeds black n white! Plus I haven't seen one 'those' since he's returned....
