Probably the only available ground that could host a night final and be able to charge people to get in. Doesn't make it fair though..........

Not sure why it had to be a night G/F. Wasn't the G/F the only night game all year ? Oh, and by the way, U16 Div 6 only had 5 teams ....... and a final 4 !!

Good debate re U18/3 comp - a few points.
1. EDFL will never change what they setup at start of season ie with 5 sides 2 to play Grand Final only. Effectively no change from last year. It was up to DS to know the competition. Afterall we expect our coaches to know the rules when coaching no different in my opinion.
2. Night Grand Final - Keilor received verbal advice 1 week before the grand final that they were hosting the game. Written communication didn't come until the Tuesday b4 the game. This is fact.
3. As I have said before - this is a new senior competition why compare to juniors & why compare to TAC. Bring it into line with the EDFL senior competitions when their is enough teams to justify, just comon sense.
4. As far as DS coming home like a train - good luck to them. We all deal with school footy & TAC interuptions. Get over it. If my memory serves me right DS won a Div 1 grand final with their kids coming back from senior footy. You don't hear Keilor sooking.
5. Saw last Friday night's grand final played in great spirit even though a one sided affair, let's hope more club's specifically the club's that have 3 U16 sides, get involved it creates a great feeling around your club. Hat's off to Hadfield, Greenvale, Strathmore, Doutta Stars & Keilor for making this happen.

Just an opinion the AFL will most likely cap interchanges should the EDFL do that too

Still think Douttas wouldn't have been a threat at finals time there two big scalps were in nothing games at the end of the season when the top 2 had already been decided, Keilor had 15 players in that last game.

Quite possible but Doutta's only played 15 players against Keilor to be fair as was the unwritten rule for all the teams all year , doubled Keilor and Hadfields score so cannot say it was not game on

No, there were a number of venues hosting Grand Finals last weekend.

Syd-Hill can also host night Grand Finals if required though there is no pre-requisite that this be held at night anyway.

Massive and unfair advantage to Keilor

Just another time the league favors keilor , last year in the 16's GF the league's own photographer took heaps of photo,s of keilor players punching into big Jordy after the final siren
you could view them from the link on their own website and still they did nothing

Watched Marby v Strathmore, in very trying conditions. Marby seem to be getting back to some form with some strong performances from key Players Haynes having 50+ possessions and Stewart running a muck in the forward line.

had the privilege to watch DS v Keilor today at Keilor Park. Douttas lead all match, however keilor got a couple of late goals in last qtr and game was drawn. Played 4 x 5 min extra time where douttas scored 1 pt and with 1 min to go Keilor kicked a goal and won.
Compliments to both teams who fought hard and fair all day in terrible conditions, was a classic game and one for the archives!!

Sounds like a great game.

Why on earth would they play 4 x 5 min of extra time? Surely 2 x 5 or at a stretch 2 x 10 would do it?

Also saw this game fantastic effort by both sides. Hats off to both. Extra time was 2 x 5 mins scores still drawn so another 2 x 5 mins.
DS had this game at 3/4 time with a lead of 24pts but Keilor came home full of run. Conditions were terrible but a game the EDFL would be happy to showcase if they had of been there??

Comments on the Best Performed & Most disapointing Club in A Grade this year, keeping in perspective of $$$'s spent ect.

Best Performed - Although their player payments is in the higher part of the Comp $180k + , Oak Park have been the stand out team for mine. To come up from B Grade in the current enviroment and get the results on the board - Well Done

Worst Club - No Doubt Strathmore. Must be some serious questions being asked how they could not make the finals with the $$$ they are paying and the List they have.

EDFL I dont think so, they are fair weather spectators!! Scott, Price and Corrigan probably having Lattes at a heated cafe somewhere. Also note that they are charging entry fee for Coaches, Players and Support staff for finals, just another money grabbing exercise, surely the Clubs contribute enough to the bulging coffers and pay packets!!
It would be a certainty that the EDFL heirarchy or umpires wont be paying.

i have a couple more of these to edit together and upload - highlights of recent matches broadcast on north west FM.

Just wondering with Essendon looking to move base to Essendon fields in the near future. Would the league look at occupying Windy Hill as it's headquaters where they could then also showcase the comp and play match of the round on a sunday as well as more junior finals there. Would make sense to me. I suppose the bowling club would put the rent up though. Any thoughts?

Strathmore after spending large would be close to worse, but i think Doutta Stars take the cake, they spent large on attracting Barnes, recruited and have been mostly uncompetitive for most of the year and if it wasnt for a massive upset against Marby would be finding themselves in B Grade next year.

I think best performed has to be Oak Park, no one expected them to do that well, also Avondale have proven a lot of doubters wrong.

Sorry to take the focus off Juniors in an A grade senior forum ladies (perhaps p.m each other) but thought a few people may raise an eyebrow at the news from a very reliable source, that Jason Laycock has been de listed from Essendon (told he will not be there next year) and if not picked up by another side or VFL side, has agreed to play at Keilor next season under Mick who he played under in Tassie.

That's huge news. I am guessing he will want a pretty packet to play though. If they can snag him then well done.

There might be a new coach at Essendon in 2011 and Jason Laycock will be stay on the list

Round 18 Tips

Doutta Vs Abers
Greenvale Vs Avondale Heights
Keilor Vs West Coburg
Strathmore Vs Oak Park
Marby Vs Craigieburn

The finals are almost here.

Mate the words came straight from Tealy's mouth. Either he is telling fibs or you have no idea what is going on. If that's not a reliable source I dont know what is?

Tealy not the President - now a junior parent, so he is effectively out of the loop. Read into his comments yourself especially being a DS person he will tell you blokes anything.

Even as far as bad mouthing his own club? Gee, he must have let go of the Presidency on sour terms.

Laycock probably one of the worst ruckmen the AFL has seen, EDFL may still be to high a standard for this bloke........... and also "coffee with Barnes and the president". You cant seriously be telling me Barnes will still be at Douttas next year?:confused::confused:
