Great win by Westy over a quality KP side . The style and consistency we’ve been waiting for all year finally came through — hard at the ball, quick on the spread, and great teamwork. No passengers today, everyone played their role. Three strong quarters set it up before slowing things down late. I believe this format was a one off as Grand Final dates were set as the league wanted separate weekends for each division. It is a terrible format but only came about as clubs wanted a final 5.

Yeah it was to get a final 5 in a three week block

If 1 went straight to the GF
They'd have 2 weeks off while 2-5 play off for the other position

Westy got a break at the start and then held that break for the rest of the game.

They seem very well coached and looked dangerous when they run the ball. They will take some beating.

KP will be disappointed but they were far from disgraced. They had a super tough year in 2024 when they were decimated by injuries.. lost some good players in the off-season… recovered really well and showed a lot of spirit and largely played some very entertaining football in the 2025 season.

What was the thought process behind the finals set up anyway? Isn't it a departure from the norm? To do so would mean it was brought into question to begin with?

Have to feel for Glenroy but they still had their fate in their own hands, so in the end they only have themselves to blame for not playing off in the Granny.

Agree with this. They were humiliated on Sunday, Rupo clearly the better team.

In saying that, word on the street is that there was a destination wedding this weekend that would’ve seen 6-8 Roys players miss the GF had they made it.

You can all whinge about the finals system as much as you want but at the end of the day the best teams will make it and the best team will win it.

Glenroy failed to defeat Rupo in 3 games during the season.
Yes we all agree finals system is flawed but I think at start of season most good judges had Rupo vs Westmeadows grand final.

Glenroy should be congratulated on a great season, finished 2nd last in 2024 and had seniors finish 1st and reserves playing off in grand final on Saturday

Well done to Keilor Park as well, who had a great season as well.

One things for certain, the players playing on the day will never forget it, it’s something many players don’t experience, which quite frankly is the absolute ultimate in football, and that’s playing in a grand final, moreso for those luck enough to be in a winning one.

I certainly wouldn't call today's GF a great game, but it was enthralling from start to finish.

Both sides failed to use the breeze well and paid the price. Too many wild shots on goal rather than a measured build up.

Like rioli brownlow and many of us at the ground, I thought Bailey Verrall was a worthy BOG winner from the winning side. About the only thing the umpires did wrong all day.

Well done to Westmeadows. Like Rupo, they played on 26 points and have scope to recruit if they want to. Their ruckman was sensational.

Congrats to Rupo too. They were ripped to pieces not that long ago and have now won an EDFL Flag and are back in div 1. Fantastic stuff.

This one hurts to be honest, we from what I could tell looked flat at start of game and our skills by hand and foot just really poor which if we reflect on they where pretty poor all year, just more noticeable on Saturday. The first 15 mins of last quarter was the only time in game where westy had momentum and when we got 13 points up I started to believe we could win it but when play stopped for 6 mins westy stopped and that was the game rupoo got going and the rest is history. Next year

I'm a neutral who really enjoyed the contest , both teams played tough/committed and fair. Always need a bit of luck in close one's and Rupo had the momentum late in the game. Congratulations & Respect to both Clubs
