Never works out well sacking the coach who just won the flag. No one can just say they want to coach again and get back in.

Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Yeh, shame for any others that applied when they had already decided lol. They were interviewing other coaches during the finals.
Any wonder they having issues after the way they handled coaching application process. Was always thwarted with danger keeping Harris (even though he seems a ripping bloke) and having him sit in on every other coaching applicant’s meetings.Anyone with news on Pascoe Vale? Saad gone, along with a couple of VFL-listed players (Taha and Scott).
Whispers that Ritchie is gone and Stillman reportedly yet to sign.

Where were new recruits and ideas coming from. Be interesting
You’d hope not, would be a total shit move to sack him after he beat the unbeatable Keilor in a GrannyThis Strathmore talk surely can’t be true?
It’s true. Be an interesting presentation night this Friday, hear a few players just finding out via people spotting the bigfooty news and a few players were pretty shocked and disappointed with how it’s happened. This Strathmore talk surely can’t be true?
Even if Horne is a better coach it seems an extremely poor way of treating a person who couldn’t have done any more. By the way even if Ash had a better list doesn’t that mean he was able to attract greater talent? They won the flag so I don’t see how that would mean he has less ability then someone else just because he was able to build a better list. It’s true. As far as I’m aware it seems a very isolated decision made with little knowledge or consultation with many others at the club. Who knows…
Could it be that Ash was one of the lowest paid coaches in the division so it meant they had more money to spend on these ex AFL and VFL players? I believe in his previous coaching role he did not take a cent from Rupo and told the club to spend the money on the players. I expect he probably did the same at Strathmore.Even if Horne is a better coach it seems an extremely poor way of treating a person who couldn’t have done any more. So did Marty AllisonI have heard some of the reasons for Nick Ash’s sacking third hand and they are laughable considering he coached Strathmore to a flag a week ago.
I am surprised at some of the comments on here, when people were happy for the same thing to happen to another premiership coachSo did Marty Allison
Which other premiership coach?I am surprised at some of the comments on here, when people were happy for the same thing to happen to another premiership coach
Definitely true. This Strathmore talk surely can’t be true?
Non playing coaches are not included in the cap, so makes zero senseCould it be that Ash was one of the lowest paid coaches in the division so it meant they had more money to spend on these ex AFL and VFL players? Sorry, runner up coachWhich other premiership coach?
If you pay the coach less or nothing means the club has to find less to spend within the cap.Non playing coaches are not included in the cap, so makes zero sense
Then why change? Is Horne going to do it for nothing? If you pay the coach less or nothing means the club has to find less to spend within the cap.
When a club doesn’t have enough money to pay a coach and the full cap it makes sense.Non playing coaches are not included in the cap, so makes zero sense
Why the change: probably due to wanting a mate as coach, Horne a Strathmore family connection, not sure but brings $ to the club with him too I believe. Then why change? Is Horne going to do it for nothing?
Not sure so much about the past, but completely on last season and definitely deserves 2026 as a minimumThe last 3 Strathmore coaches all must be great coaches given that they all at least played off in GF. Which coach is the best can be debated all day long. I’m sure they all have different coaching styles. The only thing that can’t be debated is that in the last 4 years where they have played off in 3 GFs Ash has either been the head coach or an assistant coach so it is puzzling to see Ash not being offered at least one more year before moving him on.
For the benefit of a non local watching on from afar, can somebody please detail Matt Horne’s playing and coaching history? Seems to be highly spoken of on here. Thanks.
If I took everything from big footy to the bank I’d have debt collectors at my door all day every day100% correct, take it to the bank.

If its happening in local footy you will here it here on Big Footy first. On that basis I offer the following. 7 Straight wrfl premiership winning juggernaught Deer Park are primed for a huuuuuge 2026. Watch this space.... Cruelled by injury in 2025 , 2026 is going to a good year.
How did the Strathmore captain take being left out of the Grand Final team? Was he dropped or had he missed a number of weeks in the lead in to the GF?.
