Great news for the club if it eventuates. Would be good to see the Jets up and about, and challenging once again. They were a real powerhouse for a 15 year period, from 2004 onwards.

I know one thing Greenvale won’t finish anywhere near where they finished this season. The best coach the EDFL has seen in the past 15 years.
He is above the likes of Potter and McGuane.

Going back to the well again... can Bruce not allow himself to employ a coach who wasn't an ex-AFL player? Plenty of good local coaches but he always falls into ex AFL players. I'll give it two years max. Juniors down there struggling big time and a lot of kids not wanting to stay because they are just there as a cash cow for them to bring people in from outside instead of building from within.

Keilor just looked too battered by the time the business end rolled around, tough way to finish a strong season.
After nursing a sore head, I flicked over to the O&M Grand Final coverage... and wow, it really puts the EDFL to shame in terms of how they present their premier game. Night and day difference.
Also, can anyone confirm if the away teams didn’t have access to showers? If that’s true, it’s a really poor look for the EDFL.

That is correct - Keilor lads mentioned there were no showers in the away rooms and there was only 1 toilet. Pretty ordinary from the EDFL for a premier competition grand final to have such poor facilities and no prior warning from the EDFL..
Agree with the O&M coverage - it is amazing. Tuned in quite a bit this year and the way they promote the competition and the players that represent it is unrivalled. In this day and age, digital content is everything and they do a stellar job at it. EDFL could definitely take a leaf out of their book. I’m still surprised the EDFL don’t have a dedicated resources full time to cover media for each grade of Senior Men’s football (3x employees). The exposure and promotion of the league is pretty ordinary really for one of the premier competitions in Melbourne.

Hopefully this will shake things up then. EDS and APW challenging the normal top finishers, plus now chance of Greenvale too. Can't underestimate Marby and am sure they are busy recruiting. Fingers crossed Premier will be interesting again.
In other news, I heard whispers on Saturday that Cal Moore got handed $50K in a brown paper bag to sign on, plus same again in fees for the season. That is absolutely absurd drug money. How do the country clubs get away with that stuff?

In all honesty the roads in this state are stuffed and it’s definitely had an effect on a lot of clubs outside the Essendon area recruiting.

Do the numbers champ. Tobacco close to Melbourne, wheat & barley up the sticks. Plenty of cash transactions happening with commodities in the country. Do you reckon Travis Cloke was travelling to Nulawill because they had good potatoe Cakes in the fish shop. The only differnence is farmers don't talk to you for poor output whereas our bearded friends propensity for playing with matches is well publicised.

I'm well aware of where the money comes from champ. I was asking about how they get away with it. I'm sure Cal isn't the only big $$ fish they have landed. Are the country leagues even more piss weak than the EDFL?

Im not sure piss weak, you only have to look when he was at Wang how hard they were stung, compared to Keilor. With the money suggested, id think north central, if its a bumper crop, the clubs have farms, where they pay in cash, kids are dwindling there compared to 25 years ago, they pay this to keep the community alive, far different to Keilor having 20 junior clubs coming through
