They need to get a majority of clubs to vote no to playing the season. If they vote yes then the season is back on. Only the clubs have the power to cancel the season not the board. I’m not sure what percentage they need to vote no to get a cancellation. Im guessing somewhere between 50-75%

Better start canvassing Cheap, you need the votes to land your desired outcome

If and i repeat if the mail floating around town is 6 clubs want to compete the numbers maybe a problem

There is 26 clubs I think so not sure Torp, is it a whole of comp thing or by division who knows I think there are clubs seeking this clarity today and there was an article in the herald sun/leader about this.

As per By-Laws Require 2/3's of Clubs vote in overturning Board's cancellation decision for Senior season to progress

ooooo, this is all getting very exciting. Does this mean its possible that (say) one or two of the divisions could be canned and the other gets the green light? It makes for interesting forum fodder. It also makes the edfl board look like fools though. I'm getting a large popcorn and coke!

So 2/3 of the 26 or do the bi-laws or constitution allow for them to break off into divisions and be considered as separate entities?

Good on Bruce for standing up if you don’t want to play.. don’t play! Simple hide in your bubble collect your centrelink jobkeeper money and continue to worry and threat over something that has 1-5 people in hospital out of 100+ people who are apparently “sick”

Is McGuane behind a lot of this? He does stand to lose a lot of $$$$ if no footy season..I heard a while ago that Keilor commitee wasn’t keen to continue playing so could this be McGuane as the guy is just so footy focussed. But a what cost??
I don't think its Keilor, I think that's changing. I do think it might be the non-president of a football club that has a monkey as its mascot.

Thanks Cheap

I had heard that it could be treated by division opposed to whole of league.

Also heard they may use this clause from the original release

The League will now seek to examine the merits of conducting an alternative competition format for senior men’s and women’s football to be played later this year.

Apparently the Bi Laws don't read like that it is whole of competition?

It doesn't state or allow for 75% by division it's just member clubs.

So 19 of the 26 clubs would need to vote yes to overturn the board decision to cancel.

Been told it's 8 yes at the moment across 3 divisions.

Interesting is it confirmed to require 75% of clubs to turn a boards vote.

I’ve heard all div 2 teams bar Moonee valley want to play.

Even if it gets over turned wait a week for Dan Andrews to put an end to it

Yeah I think it's 2/3 of all clubs. Think the specifics will come out prior to the vote. Agree return to play guidelines will be changed to make all this a mute point in the end.

I’d love for footy to happen but I can’t see this vote working.

How would it work if there are 2-3 teams willing to play in div 1 or div 2?? and the rest literally cannot. Would Premier go ahead and the other two leagues just forfeit??

Or does the league force them to field a side and punish them if they cannot ?

That's exactly what a large number of member clubs are seeking clarity on, how and on what basis is this vote and decision going to be made.?

Are you sure about that, my feedback is a club will need to vote NO to a season for a season to not go ahead.

The findings were the EDFL final decision is now null and void as they did not have the authority to cancel a season.

So assume 4 clubs in Premier vote NO season - then the season is on

No one has to put a team on the park clubs can as a number have remove themselves from the 2020 season.

But the time to move if wanting to avoid a season in 2020 is now

That’s my point say vote is over turned but then 3-4 teams from all comps pull the pin. Do u merge top div 1 and premier for a 2020 season and then bottom div 1 teams with div 2??

Then the teams that play do they drop points etc? Can’t see anyone wanting to play for no promotion or point drops

That correct. The season hasn’t been cancelled as the board made a decision without a club vote. The clubs are now voting yes to play or no to cancel. I’m guessing 75% of clubs need to vote no to cancel the season. What happens after that is up to the league to determine what the season look likes if the vote is a yes.
So 20 clubs need to vote to cancel the season. Do they have the numbers??

Get the popcorn ready. I can see clubs that pull the pin complaining if it goes ahead and those that play drop points.

In all seriousness if players play a Season with no promotion etc there should be a point drop at least for some incentive

So just say 15 clubs say no ... comp pushes on and still those 15 volunteer clubs choose to not partake yeh?
What's the fall out, or ramifications?

What a debacle ....
