If Powell does play also keep an eye on James Borlase too I'll be interested in your take on him and where he sits in the scheme of this draft.
Sorry to burst the bubble but Powell's back in U18s this week.

Thoughts on him? Any expectations?
I thought in his under age year he showed plenty and was looking forward to watching his progress in his top age year but unfortunately the ACL intervened.
Nice blend of run and hardness at the contest at times that I thought would see him eventually transition into the big bodied mid.

With the combine players announced ive done a mock up of the potential Metro vs Country game if things go to plan in late October. Gribble and Hollands obviously missing due to injury.

Notice you have added the non-invited Will Papley to your bench for country. Statistically a good underage year and seen little to
nothing on him. Seems to have similar traits to his brother and I for one would like the Blues to look at an affordable Papley. Do you
have any insight to add?

I am aware not much info or exposure about, but was looking forward to seeing the trajectory of father/son Charlie McKay, again
anything you could offer would be appreciated.

My other "value" watch was Crippa's little brother Josh, but that hasn't gone well. Must have shown plenty to be Aquinas captain
ahead of some of the other players at his school.

Bugger!

Interesting debut on the weekend Pete...Flynn Perez.
Good kid, showed some great signs in 2018, unfortunate he couldn't go on with it in 2019. A real X-factor/unknown type, but obviously has talent. By the looks of it he has bulked up which is what he needed to do to play at the next level. Looking forward to it and liking what the Roos are doing with their list the last month.

Honestly I don’t rate the younger Papley that highly from what I saw last year but can see him being added to the country squad on name alone.

There isn’t much I can say about McKay, looked to a smooth mover through the midfield and not a bad size for a mid, needed to see a lot more though.

Injury struck young Cripps which is disappointing, he is a key forward and taller than his brother. I haven’t seen him play so can’t really say what his range would have been.

Have they shown enough that their brothers clubs might invite them to train (similar to Florents young brother) as good will/ to get a better look in your opinion?

It could happen, might be unlikely though in the current climate

I’ve already come to conclusions on Borlase, how he plays at league level from now on won’t effect my ratings of him much. A good option late but would be shocked to see him bid in the top 40.
I think it's dangerous to have a closed mind on Borlase. He's been a significant improver this year, and last week was one of the best for Sturt is his first game.

Perhaps doesn't ultimately change bid position, but he seems like he's improving in many people's perceptions.

I’ve seen enough of him and I’m very confident on what type of player he will be. He is already a very strong body so it was never a surprise to me to see him play well at League level.

eDPS How close is McDonald coming to being your official #1 player in the draft? Didn’t get to watch the opening quarter in this game, but was he dominant in the 2 goals he kicked ?

Might climb to 2 but I still love JUH for 1
How tall is O’Driscoll now? Looks near kpp height out there
Yeah he does look a little taller than 187cm. I’m guessing only a little taller though between 188 and 189. Still promising to see his growth.

Did you get to watch the Claremont vs WP game today? Any thoughts on Kellen Johnson in his return?
Yeah didn’t mind him, looks about 192cm so a good frame to build on. Looked a bit like Nick Haynes our there with his intercept work and ability to read the play and use the ball well.

Good debut game. Very happy with him.

He is every bit a draft chance, not early but for a club wanting a player with speed and dare there aren’t many quite like him in the pool.
They are saying on Twitter list sizes will be reduced to 40 ( 38 main and 2 rookies) is that the end of the Category B rookie development player ie Tom Hird, will Gold Coast keep their extra rookie spots ( may have to delist about 15 otherwise

I think cat bs will be included outside of that. They want players coming into from other sports etc.

I don't think there's anything sneaky about Spicer's draft chance. I'd be surprised if he isn't picked, as high as late second/early third round like Irving Mosquito a couple of years back. I'd take Spicer over Newchurch.

Watched Spicer a couple of weeks ago and Newchurch on Saturday, would take Spicer over Newchurch. Spicer seemed to want to be involved in the game where as Newchurch just trotted around.
