Spirit Ashes, Ashes of War, biggest weapon & magic pool, NPC summons, horseback combat, over abundance of runes for leveling. There's a lot of things that equally make this game the easiest. I'd argue unless you scummed your way with Mimic Tear + 10 before it got patched, there's more broken Ashes of War than Spirit Ashes. Cost for using them wasn't balanced at all.

True on the Ashes of War, but I dont mean the absurdity that was pre nerf mimic tear. Even current mimic tear is absurd. Just having something to take aggro is a big deal compared to prior games.
There were OP spells and incantations in the other games which I can liken to the Ashes of War. The spirit ashes are an entirely new, game changing element.

Not that any of this is bad, it's good to have options to make things easier for those who want it. I'm just saying for Souls veterans who are finding it too easy, a good start is to stop using the summons.

Scummed your way?

Tried the co op. As good as this game is they missed the mark on co op.
Can't use a horse and couldn't upgrade at Grace sites. Could of been really fun as a multiplayer game aswell. Not sure why they didn't put much effort into the co op multiplayer.

It's an odd argument. Like, you don't have to use AoW or Spirit Summons. So diehard Soulsbourne can still get that brutal experience. Where as for me, I've tried DS1 and 3, Bloodbourne and Nioh, and I last around an hour or so, or the first boss and give up. I want to enjoy them, I love RPG's, but it's too frustrating.
This game though, i'm 20 hours in and always thinking about it and wanting to dive back in.
Catering to all audiences isn't a bad thing, especially when your not necessarily robbing Peter to pay Paul.

You have this whole finger item thing you and your co op partner have to use why couldn't they make it easy where you just invite a friend like every other multiplayer game?

The co op in this is half baked.

Cross platform would of been nice also.

Level 106, dropped 30k runes and rode off the other way.

Make It Rain Money GIF

Funny how 5k runes are flush in the first 20 hours and so hard to come by, then you ride back past those early stages and drop enemies that smashed you with one hits. Love that about From games.

Currently level 197 with an emphasis on arcane (80).
Gone for an assassin build.
Have the black knife armor, ‎occult Uchigatana (+25) with bloodhound step Ash of War in my right hand and dragon communion seal (+10)in my left hand.
I have two offensive spells that I principally use with my dragon communion seal - rotten breath and lightning strike.
As I have spekked into arcane my occult Uchigatana scales at B with arcane and my dragon communion seal scales at S with arcane (which is amazing).
Essentially in a boss fight I can summon my spirit (either Black Knife Tiche or Lhutel the Headless if I want something tankier that the Black Knife Tiche) and let them take the bosses aggro. I then use my flask of wonderous physic which has the Cerulean Hidden tear and allows me 15 seconds (or at least two full sprays) of the rotten breath on the boss. This essentially will eat away at their health for the rest of the fight.
Then with the bloodhound step (and sufficient FP) I can zoom around the boss and his minions (if applicable) and usually they can't lay a hand on me.
I can then either throw my lightning from a safe distance or come in close and use my Uchigatana for a quick attack and dance away from any strikes with bloodhound step.
I've tried a number of builds and it is the most enjoyable build I've tried while also being somewhat OP (because you can avoid most damage that enemies try and inflict on you).
I've very recently added Bloodhound's Fang (+9) to this set up and enjoying using the combination of Bloodhound's Finesse into a strong attack for more range and physical damage when compared to the Uchigatana.

Just got the Bloodhounds Fang myself and finding it better than my +6 uchigatana, little slow but gotta have a trade off for the higher damage..

Also, game can go back to getting F***ed. Wander down some steps, open up a chest... OOOhhh what could it be???, cloud of smoke..... End up on the other end of the map in a cave surrounded by stupid rock jerks who smoked me!
Lost all my runes so just started running around getting whatever crystals and smithing stones i could trying to find an exit.🤣

On base stats the Bloodhounds Fang is better.
However, once you put an Ash of War that allows you to scale uchigatana with your build (in my case occult which it scales at B tier) and factoring in the quicker strike motion you'll find that the uchigatana can be almost as devastating.
Also, as a very quick build like mine, having a fast strike animation is imperative, otherwise you might get caught in mid animation by a boss's blow and then it's game over.

If you are talking about the Sellia Crystal Tunnel there's actually some really good loot and weapons in the area which can be collected (if you are at a sufficient level).

Yep that's the one. Will level a bit more and venture in.
