pick 50 - Horsley (longer season, Ball will need resting, no-one yet ready to step up as mature body extractor - Blair, Beams, Fasolo, JThomas may get there but not this year)

pick 60 - Murdoch (if still there - another fast 190cm engine room 19 yr old, also likes a goal)

rookie 1 - Dalton ( mature attacking KP defender who could release eg Brown to KP attack)

rookie 2 - Farmer/Stubbs/Eddy

Is this a Guess or do you know Something?

Who is Murdoch?

What's people's opinions on Sam Kerridge if he happened to last to our pick? Personally developing that next group of inside midfielders to come through (jt, beams etc). Also see him potentially being able to be influential (ala Dustin Martin/swan) up forward.

Sorry to intrude guys (snoop, quicky, knight), if Kerridge got through to pick 47 (our last live pick) we will nab him..

Seriously one of the most under rated players on BF!

He could play round 1 next year IMO. Was one of our best in a VFL elimination final... As a 17 - year old.

Couple of guys I think Collingwood could look at are Haydn Buscher (wa), and Micael Lourey (Vic).

Couple of strong bodied 21 year olds who showed some real strength as forwards this year.

Only seen the one Buscher game and he struggled but seen Lourey on 3 occasions and each time he has impressed me. Takes a good grab, has a strong body and isn't afraid of splitting a pack open. Whilst your very own Brett Eddy is the wildcard of the 'mature aged' KPF.

The couple I'd be gunning for:
Zyrus Manson
Seb Ross
Jackson Paine
Fraser McInnes
Josh Waldhuter
Shane Kersten
Jordan Lockyer

Others who might be available that appeal:
Murray Newman
Sam Kerridge
Josh Tynan
Jordan Kelly
Jackson Merrett
Jimmy Webster
Lee Spurr
Kyal Horsley

First thing I thought when i read Emma's article was that Leroy leaves a sizable hole in our team.

Stewart next year will be good (hopefully) but the cupboard appears bare.

However.

Reid can play forward. That's where he started. I'd prefer him going forward and Brown and taz down back than relying on one of them to do it.

Witts will play forward this year.

Shae has had his contract renewed and is a natural 3rd tall (at 204cm)

Jolly could move forward in the Leroy role and give Wood time in the first ruck.

Keefe can play forward, although is better down back.

Ceglar has good hands.

Despite appearances, we aren't exactly barren for KPF's. We also have small forwards, midfielders and small backs overflowing from every orifice.

So, having no identifiable discernible area of weakness, we draft "best available"

I have been reading the draft history lists that the AFL website has been putting up lately, it's interesting that after about pick 50 there's really not much talent that's come through over the entire history of the draft, but there's been quite a bit of decent talent that's come through the rookie system.

KPPs are pretty slim pickings the further they get down the order. Clubs almost overrate them because decent KPPs are hard to get. Considering this is an expected weak draft I wouldn't be expecting us to draft anyone tall (outside of Witts etc), and if we did I wouldn't be surprised if they never made it.

Emma Quayle's assement is pretty accurate I think. We'll go for the best available and that's most likely a small to medium player.

Love to have him. Very under rated by a lot of folk on here and probably has a bit to do with his champs where he didnt stand out. But in contrast i think he was in the bests at bendigo maybe 70% of the time or thereabouts. Also caught his VFL games and he was v good around the middle and HF. People have compared him to Swan but I dont see that. For me I see him a bit more like a Jed Adcock. He is a good height.

I am with you Twaters....

Murdoch is one of my favourites and had him in a Mock Draft i did going to us. Truth be told i should have him higher but I just want him. He has electric pace. I think he did a 2.85 at state for 20m and he is 190cm. People talk up Haynes and I agree he is class but this kid aint far behind. Wont be long before he could slot on a wing or HF. Has genuine x factor around the goals and got some hauls this year.

Horsley am a fan of but he isnt a Hine type selection I would have thought. Had a very good year though and stepped it up to midfield. His kicking is elite.

I would take Farmer and Eddy in the Rookie draft - i was a fan of Stubbs at junior level but aint sure he can step it up. At junior level had real x factor around goals though

Mate my view would be any of that first group would probably be gone bar Waldhunter. IN the second group I think they will probably be gone as well but yeah all a chance. Newman & Merrett & Kerridge would be my favoruite from that group. Kelly is more of waht we have. Webster might be the one who falls through but he tested brilliantly and his foot is incredible. Got some Yagmoor about him actually.

Bit of a (in some people's eyes maybe) different name but I think Jimmy Bartell is a more apt comparison.

Strong overhead, great work ethic, leader, ability to hit the scoreboard and isn't afraid to go and get it himself..

If he had of played more champs he would be in the top 20 (IMO). Some people seriously underestimating his finish (including the 3 VFL games) to the year.

I can see where your heading but he is a taller JB version. i think he is around 188-9cm isnt he? Havent got the stats with me but thought he had a couple of champs games and didnt do a great deal. Still as you say his late season form was good. I think I have him in the range of circa 25 - 60 and if had to be narrower I would think 30 - 45 but this draft is going to be all over the place after 25-30 I think. I am really looking fwd to it. I suspect I will be way out so it will be interesting to see the ND and Rookie unfold and then reassess in a few years time.

Look like a Very Nice Prospect. Good Speed and as you say Snoop some Class about him. I would take him at 50 and not wait to the 63 Pick.

What Do you mean we already have the Kelly Type?

Barrel is listed as 188cm (Kerridge - 187cm)..

To be brutally honest, I think Kerridge could be one of the steals of the draft. Essendon will pick him up at 31 if he is available that's how impressive he was at Bendigo.

Reportedly interviewed exceptionally well and from the few reports and interviews I have seen/read, he certainly has his head well and truly screwed on and feet planted on the ground.

just looked it up - am staggered JB is 187cm always thought he was a touch shorter. see the comparison then.

I am hoping for one of the following for our first:
Jack Crisp
Marley Williams
Sam Kerridge
Jackson Merrett

Lachlan Dalgleish for our second and Eddy for one of the rookie spots.

+1

We have enough flexibilty to cover key forward and defensive postions. Tarrant, Reid and Keeffe could all play forward or back and Ceglar, Shae and Witts coming thru as forwards.

There has been some metion of Eddy but didn't he have a significant injury late in the year. Agree that we could do worse than to grab him as a rookie but if my recollections are correct, don't expect him to contribute much in 2012.

I am of the (from the outside) point of view that Collingwood may 'reach' for a KPP, even at 50.

Natural development in guys like J.Thomas, Seedsman etc. Will see them (hopefully) push the fringe 22 guys (Beams, McCaffer etc.), where as the delistings of McCarthy and other depth players in recent years does see a generation gap so perhaps a mature player like a Horsley, Spur could certainly come into the equation as a 'now' alternative..

Otherwise KPP me thinks

has merit for sure and the more I compare some of the 18yo's vs some of the 20-22yo's am starting to think from about 40 onwards they make real sense as long as you can see them in the best 26-28 - ie the squad that will form the basis of your premiership tilt.

This ended up being too long to answer in one post so I started a thread about my thoughts on this.

TD don't mind the idea of Horsley.

Personally, think we need to develop some harder bodies going forward. It is something that I'm hoping will start to naturally evolve in the Pies with age. Perhaps some of Buckley's controlled argro may rub off also. Someone with the uncompromising edge of a Max Rooke. With Leighroys departure next year someone will need to step up.

Apart from the obvious (carrying injured players) it was one of many areas the Cats smashed us. Harder bodies who were willing to put them on the line to maximum affect.

Given this I think we should be considering the Kerridge's (if he happened to last), Waldhuter's etc of this draft.
