Not sure that is correct. Any test available to the public is ineffective in the early stages.

Antibody tests tell you if you've had it, not if you have it.

Antibody test will yell you whether you have ever had an infection. It wont tell you whether it is an active infection. lgm antibodies are detectable within one week of infection. They use it all the time on health workers to pick up infections before they can be detected in the respiratory tract preventing further spread.

As I understand it you develop antibodies by fighting an infection. In the early stages (when you're infectious) you haven't developed those antibodies.

What an antibody test cannot tell you

An antibody test cannot tell you:

if you’re immune to coronavirus

if you can or cannot spread the virus to other people

if you have the virus at the time you take the test (a ‘current infection’)

Lgm antibodies are detectable generally within 1 week of infection. My wife organises them for all pre surgery patients on her hospital ward.

So footballers should self isolate for at least a week until they've developed enough antibodies for the test to be effective.

Only if theyve been around a close contact. Ie a member of their household. COVID transmission occurs mostly in high density indooor work environments or at home.

Like dressing rooms and the numerous indoors areas footballers work in.

If there isn't any risk of transmission in outdoor areas why are there restrictions on the general public socialising outdoors?

Who said there was zero risk of transmission? Transmission risks in an outdoor setting are low unless you are talking large amounts of people in a small space (concerts, protests etc). That's why in Victoria outdoor dining will be allowed while indoor dining will not be initially. Outdoor sports.are allowed from the ed of October but indoor sports are not.

Footballers are regularly tested and monitored for symptoms at least at PL level. That combined with good hygiene practices is the main reason why the rate of positive covid tests are 0.1% in the PL. I haven't heard of a case of transmission within the football environment being reported yet (happy to be proven otherwise). it seems most cases of players are contracted while at home or away on holidays. As for dressing rooms they don't spend much time there atm and strict protocols are followed. I see that there is strict distancing requirements for gym work indoor also.

Sending off in the Villa game looked harsh. Camera angles weren’t decisive so even if the referee reviewed it not sure it would’ve been overturned. Probably a matter of who initiated it. (And whether the pass was overhit)

Congrats on the first up win. Great save by Martinez from the pen.

So any arm away from the body is a penalty in the premier league this season?

INCIDENT: Moussa Djenepo's pass ricochets off Harry Winks and strikes the arm of Matt Doherty, who is a matter of inches away from his team-mate. Referee David Coote points to the spot after looking on the pitchside monitor.

VERDICT: When you look at how the law is written, referees have been very consistent, but this is the one I was most uncomfortable with. I was uncomfortable for two reasons; the proximity is so close, and it strikes Winks' heels before going up to Doherty's arm. In fairness to Doherty, his arms are in front of him and not outstretched, so it could have gone up and hit him in the chest. So this is not a decision I can defend, Doherty was very unlucky.

Makes too much sense for this s**t to get changed at the end of the season so expect FIFA to make it worse somehow.

Everyone was very happy with the rule when Koch was on the end of it against Liverpool? What's changed?

Not me, when I saw the footage someone posted showing it deflect (which wasn't clear on first viewing) I remarked to JD and Cruyff off site that he was stiff, or words to similar effect.

He was further away from the ball and had his arm out, bit different. But even so I'm not as against the Doherty pen as some are.
