You need to watch more than the Optus 3 minute highlights mate.

"Robert" created more key chances than anyone in the game on the ground in just 35 minutes of play, scored a goal, hit the bar twice and one of them was only kept out by the save of the round by Ederson.

But anyway, keep running with your scruffy goal and a sideways pass line.


I'm happy for Villa I want them in the prem more than a Burnley or Fulham. I still stand by a figure with add ons included of ₤40m being ridiculous for a second division player anywhere around the world.

By comparison, I think Bayern have spent that figure twice in their history.

Liverpool were rubbish from the highlights, but 4 deflected goals is not something that happens very often, if ever - aside from today. Defending was non existent for quite a few there too.

Adrian is a terrible backup keeper too.

Three were deflected but Watkins hit the upright and missed a one on one as well.

A player can not justify the price tag going into a transfer and then prove to be down the track.

VVD never looked like a 70m player at Southampton.

33m for a club like Villa a bloody lot of money but they identified a need and one main target and had the pay the price the selling club demanded. Good on them. Watkins at worst was still going to be a 10 goal striker for them I thought so 33m was a risky but worth it fee to pay considering how much PL survival is worth.

Yeah, my bad on that.

1st goal - terrible keeping due to the error
2nd goal - great finish
3rd goal - awful defending. Probably could have done more and come for it.
4th goal - deflection - can't do much about it
5th goal - deflection, unlucky
6th goal - deflection, unlucky
7th goal - shit defending, great finish and Adrian should have done much better

But Villa still created those chances, so good on them.

United should really be throwing money at someone like Nagelsmann, who has a history of developing very good teams with low budgets. Someone with a huge tactical brain and good player development abilities

We've got a high line and our defenders are trying to catch people offside. Just hoofing it to a wide area up the ground does the trick. After the ball has been played and the offside trap doesn't work, we are badly exposed because our defenders stand on the spot hoping a flag gets raised and don't get back.

What I think we need to do to fix it is to drop deeper, (including our midfield) Henderson and Thiago need to come back and help with that because Wijnaldum and Keita are not getting the job done. If that works, then our fullbacks get more of a licence to get up the ground without being so exposed defensively in wide areas.

I do wonder if teams now will try to attack Liverpool more than sit back at wait for the inevitable 1 or 2 nil loss.

Adrian is just horrendous. Can't do much about the deflected goals, three in a game is rough (and he couldn't have done much to stop them IMO).

But his error for the first is unforgivable. The second was a great finish, third was horrendous defending but he probably could have done more.

Not to take away anything from Villa though, Champions never concede 7.

It could have been double figures. Barclay could have had a first half hat trick and Watkins hit the bar.

People were saying Barclay was moved on from Chelsea because he's not good enough. He's looking better than Havertz so far.
