Stanley’s last year apparently so Esava is certainly required. Will play as a ruck/forward rather than as a KPF/ruck. He’s developing steadily. Should end up a good player. Has the athletic attributes to be better than that.

He'll go pretty well at the cats for a few years. He's basically the coaching groups favourite player

Whenever he has been fit he has played pretty much. Cameron changes the dynamic but Hawkins will probably only go one more. He can try his hand as a ruck in the interim, given his kicking issues he'd probably prefer that anyway atm.

It was where he was being asked to move to that was the issue. So he stood his ground as he is right to do being a contracted player. Melbourne clubs that need his type should be knocking on his managers door right now. Was basically told to pack his bags, so some suddenly required player schtick is laughable.

I was happy with his game last night, competed all game, he is a good tackler and a very good mark. Decision making is iffy ball in hand but that is more forgivable in a ruck than in a key forward.

I'm quite happy with what we are doing with the ruck, one ruck/forward and one ruck/defender. Better than what we have been doing for a long time anyway.

Needs to improve his endurance which is a factor in the flashes only that you speak of

Cats have 6 rucks in their list. With Rhys, Blicavs, Ratugolea, Fort, Neale, Tsapatolis, and only Rhys and Blicavs are or have been competent at it. They need to go for a ready made ruck this trade to stay in contention for finals and pray their senior players don't fall off a cliff.

Well Neale and Tsapatolis are kids. Fort is back up and his papers seem stamped as VFL only.

Esava is decent around the ground IMO but yeah not great at the actual rucking part. Maybe he will improve.

As usual we will no doubt look for a ruck and probably won't get one. But we have been without a competitive ruck since 2011 and have played finals 8 out of 9 years....

In saying that.. we desperately need some ruck depth, so if it's only going to take a late pick - ie somewhere around 50 - I'd hand that over.

The pick is irrelevant as we won't use it. If he wants to go you will be able to get him for not much, although we would probably push for a future pick since we have three seconds this year. Or maybe a fringe player we rate.
