i think essendon are a good chance to make the top 8 and are a good outsider for the top 4.The young players will be better lloyd will have full pre season mcphee will be fit and camporeale ,heffernan, and cole will help a heap. The key is watson ,dyson ,ramanuskus, mcveigh and hille if these players lift a bit essendon will be a very good side in 2006.

Agree Tockley. For me I think the key will be the fitness of Ramanaskas, Cole, Solomon and Rioli. We need these guys to be able to run out a full game. We will still be in nowhere land if these guys can only play half a game of good footy as each year the game demands that players run more and more.

Also the x factor will be how consistant the talented guys like Laycock, Nash, Winderlich and Dyson can be. We need them giving all and contributing every contest ever week, not flash one week off the next. Hopefully Winda has improved his endurance, IIRC he got slaughtered in the last qtr against Collingwood in the night game by Chris Egan after starting the game well. I like Windas application and skills though.

Correct weight tockley

with players like dyson stanton monfries watson laycock adding real substance to the side we r definantly a chance 4 the top 8

We seem to have more DEPTH than we've had for a few years. I'm quite confident we will be "thereabouts" again.

I think 5 to 8 is a reasonable tip. Plenty of good young players and the imports are going to add plenty - and let's not forget we have a fantastic draw!

Gotta like our talls all of a sudden too - Hille, Laycock, Bradley, Cartledge, and from all reports Ryder is going to be something.

For the emotional inspiration, should help that it's likely to be Hird's last season (nooooooo!!!! :( ) and it's Lloyd's first as captain too.

Hille- Ready
Laycock- Ready for 3/4 not for the whole game just yet
Bradley- Slim build means he's unable to do more then pinch hit 10/15 mins at a time.
Cartledge- Not Ready
Ryder- Not Ready
Henneman- Not quite as good in pinch hitting in the ruck as Bradley is, but still with his build is able to do it more often the Keps.

I agree they're not all ready to go, but I haven't seen a list of (particularly young) talls this good at Essendon since Madden, Merrett and Salmon were playing together!

I think you may have understated Kep a little, he bulked up considerably last year and I think he'll come out pretty strong from round one.

He got belted pillar to post against the bigger bodies but your right he did bulk up a bit, after this pre-season he may be ready to step up and pinch-hit more frequently bu remember hes ment to be Fletch's eventaul replacement and he cant do that from the ruck.

Definitely, Kep will never be a ruckman, much better for kpb. Just saying he's a quality young tall.

Stupid comment. Essendon will be lucky to make the 8. There is no chance none what so ever that you would make the top4. :thumbsu:

We will finish anywhere from 6-12.

There, I've said my piece. :)

Agreed. I think this years will be a significant improvement from last. I felt that from around 4-5 rounds left in 2006 that we were building for something. We have a lot of good improving younger players that will boost us up a little bit, and if the rest of the team pulls it together, and injuries hold off, the higher end of 6-12 is not unreasonable at all.

Nobody rates us at all. I think we all might enjoy resurrecting ladder prediction threads towards the end of the year.

Yer I think there is enough talent and momentium to suggest that the Bombers could make the 8 proberly not Top 4 but I think with our youngsters such as Stanton, Bradley and Monfries along with the class of Campers coming in along with our standard guns Lyold, Hird the Johno's we have a bit to look forward to.

I don't think Monfries will explode out next year, still really small.

Stanton, and Dyson should start to become fulltime midfielders.
I want McPhee to stay off a half-back flank.

Lloydy will be back to his best next year, and Hirdy is Hirdy, although his age is starting to show. :(

JJ will battle all year, and hopefully Fletch and MJ can continue with their form from last year.

The one I hope comes out and plays good, consistant football, and admittedly surprises everyone, is Rama. He deserves it.

Yer he might deserve it but I'm not sure it will happen he hasn't been a patch of the 2000-2002 days the last few times I've seen him. Doesn't seem to have the same zest or penetration in his kicking. Good Luck to him a make or break year for the Premiership player though.

It's not about his kicking.

He has been out of the game for nearly two seasons, two seasons which, admittedly, have seen the game change in many ways. If he can adapt, which is his biggest challenge, then I think you will see his zest and penetration again.

If we have a good run with injury and Jason Laycock, David Hille and the youngster Austin Lucy have a good year in the ruck we have the class in the midfield to smash teams. Maybe top 8 position..

i agree with what alot of ppl are saying here and i believe that with an injury free year to the likes of key players such as lloyd, fletcher , mcphee, hird lucas and hille we could very well be an underated force. after running through our list it became apparent that we have a solid amount of depth in every position this year all be it we will struggle most if fletcher goes down imo but we finally have dare i say it a fair bit of pace youth talent and hardness in the midfield which is what we have been lacking for so long now

Essendon are the Outer, Outer Outsiders.

Lloyd will not make a good captain, he shows no leadership on field and lakes the bravery to pull a side back from the brink. Or throw a punch.

Dyson and Monfries have showed nothing since the start of their careers.

Laycock and Stanton are very much below average and Rioli should have been dropped years ago. ( You got rid of Cupido!! I was begginning to wonder if you ever would. The Dud! )

The guys you need to look to for improvement are Adam McPhee, Mark Johnson ( Should have been named captain ) Jason Johnson, Scott Lucas and Dustin Fletcher in the form of Leadership. Your young players are so bad that they need to get some guidence.

The side also has no depth: If Fletcher dosent take the marks in Defence who does? If Hille gets the tap ( Unlikely hes second rate ) besides the Johnsons who gets it? And if Hird dosent get the goals wholl kick em? ( Dont start with Lloyd! hes loist any spark he once had. h wait that right he never had a spark. He dived to get all his goals. NEVER TOOK A CLEAN MARK IN HIS CAREER! Always had to fall flat on his face and pretend to have been pushed in the back! FACE KIT ESSENDON ARE A REALLY BAD SIDE!!!!!!

Tambling and Hartigan have showed nothing since the start of their careers.

Deledio and Meyer are very much below average and Gasper should have been dropped years ago. ( You got rid of Hilton!! I was begginning to wonder if you ever would. The Dud! )

The guys you need to look to for improvement are Troy Simmonds, Matthew Richardson ( Should have been named captain (just for the laugh factor) ) Mark Coughlan, Greg Tivendale and Andrew Kellaway in the form of Leadership. Your young players are so bad that they need to get some guidence.

The side also has no depth: If Bowden dosent take the marks in Defence who does? If Knobel gets the tap ( Unlikely hes second rate and averaged less hitouts per game than Hille ) besides the Tuck who gets it? And if Brown dosent get the goals wholl kick em? ( Dont start with Richardson! hes loist any spark he once had. h wait that right he never had a spark. He dived to get all his goals. NEVER TOOK A CLEAN MARK IN HIS CAREER! Damn it is easy being a troll. I should take it up. You don't even need basic English skills.

I guess the difficulty comes with being a good one.
