We were playing against Essendon, injuries and umpires... but more could have been shown. Just needed a little luck.

A key to our '08 premiership was scoreboard pressure. So many misses in the 2nd half, 9 guys 15 games or less, a very bitter pill, but something like the first season that buddy and roughy were running around. The chance for the team list to review the games that got away, I don't think this game was the game that sunk our season. For the sore bodies of our walking wounded, it's premature and a flick knife to our pride and guts, not to even be playing at all in September, but if you can get down and see Box Hill, we have some bright stars of the future. You can bet a lot of the senior list will be in attendance.

Fracture to cheekbone and eye socket. Will probably need surgical plating, but we will no doubt hear soon.

Just reinforces again the extent of the blow, and the extent of the holiday that the diver will get

I have no doubt, his career is over now. I dont care how many scum punters lift their eyes from the swamp to come to his support. He will get weeks now, and the bombers hierarchy, starved of success, will press on next year with their plan to push youth, and leave the poor old sniper off the list.

You can bet he will announce his retirement as soon as the tribunal reaches its verdict. Fancy a career of that magnitude evaporating a a haze of shame and disrespect like this.

I hope this gutter deweller gets the AFL "sendoff" he deserves - a forced eviction care of the tribunal, and a career ended in utter disgrace.
We always knew he was a f*ckwit of the highest magnitude, this latest incident reinforces that belief.

And to think that at this very moment there is human garbage (who call themselves "Essendon supporters") who are calling him a "hero" for winning them yesterday's game (they know full-well that taking Sewell out won it for them!) on that slime-infested maggot heap known as the Essendon board.

What sort of human being could ever hope to support a club like Essendon and look themselves in the mirror without feeling dirty?

On reflection of this game, the thing that disappoints me most is how we played after the "incident".

I was really happy with the immediate aftermath, in so far as sticking up for one of our soldiers, but we had plenty of time while poor old Sewelly was being carted off for our leaders to settle everyone down and make sure our full attention was on the footy, not retaliation.

We played so well in the first half by attacking the contest hard, and then because of this incident, our focus changed to the man. This is what cost us the game. The Bombers clearly came out with a plan to unsettle us, not necessarily knock someone's head off, and it worked. Kudos to them.

Our leaders need to learn from this, and when it happens again ensure that we get on with what wins games of footy, winning the contested ball!!!

you clearly didnt see the whole incident. Lloyd ran from 20-25 away with no intention to collect the ball. it was a clear snipe. If he had of ACCIDENTLY collected sewell as he collected the ball, i dont think Hawthorn supporters would give a shit
