That's before injuries have ****ed the year.

Like to see how many team goes with having up to a dozen of their best players missing for the year and then filled up with vfl players and rookies.

Most teams will struggle like us
Agree.

Would love to see how many clubs could handle the amount of outs we have. 4 ACLs in a single year is almost unheard of. Think Tigers had it last year.

We have been cursed and it's pretty ordinary that other AFL supporters like to hang it on us.

When WCE had that horror run in 2023, apparently end of year the emergency list had blokes who were injured on it late. Were any of them long term injuries? id doubt it

Pretty sure Essendon over a decade ago had something similar where we had one fit emergency.

Have most of Essendon's injuries been bad luck like Martin's ACL or is there a pattern of injuries like soft tissue?
4 ACL’s, 1 ruptured Achilles, 1 seaon ending concussion, 3 ankles then calf’s and hammies like most clubs, but a few of them have been recurring calf’s and hammies.

Club has been dealing with soft tissue injures for years not once we had our best team play together for a full season how are we ever supposed to get better when every season our best players are injured all the time.

The others like Martin,Draper etc are just bad luck. The club is doing a full blown review into the strength and conditioning department there will be casualties and massive changes made.

I'd be looking at the indoor surface at the Hangar. Could it be that the grip and firmer surface of the artificial turf conditions players to expect such surfaces, and when they hit the natural softer grass, the muscles and joints are just ever so slightly out-of-tune and become more injury-prone.

There are plenty of concerns. Expect heads to roll in the S&C department.

Also concerns have risen in regards to the boots players wearing (studs/stops and the moulding).

Strange times, now we are getting supporters wanting to finish below Essendon to get ahead of them in the draft.
Richmond a chance to go above us. Have 3 winnable games to come. We aren’t winning another for the year.

I’d be pretty comfortable if I was an Essendon supporter. This year (and possibly next) is the fire that toughens the steel. A few tweaks to conditioning and a couple of list changes and I expect them to be well positioned from 2027 onwards. Arguably one of the best positioned to handle the impact of Tasmania coming in, particularly if they can lure/develop a key young mid.

If Draper leaves and triggers band 1 we will have 3 picks in the top 10 plus 2 second rounders. if the rumors of players being disgruntled are true we could add some more picks would be almost close to what Richmond had last year problem is tho this draft is supposedly weak
It might be overstated but there claiming it will be one of the worst drafts in a decade definitely not a draft to be loading up in. Considering they didn’t even need to trade the pick before the kako bid that could have got another quality player in a strong draft last season another bad move

Every chance a team would have tried to force our hand at the draft with an early bid as you can still trade once the bid has been placed and ended up with a much weaker hand. Even if we had taken than one extra before the bid, it would have eaten our entire draft hand, meaning no Clarke and Johnson plus Gerryn and Unwin. The first two already looking like excellent prospects and we still have a first to come.

Even if the draft is weak there are still a handful of players you’d love to have around the top 12.

You have to do the trade to ensure 3 first round picks instead of 2 across 3 years. Not to mention getting Melbourne’s first looks like an excellent deal

Harley Reid and Logan Morris suggest that “they” don’t know as much about the quality of drafts and draftees as we think they do.
