Not suggesting he’s a dud No. 1 but I’m not sure he will be the generational player that was so hyped up.
My overall point is that there is much more that goes into determining the longer term contribution of a player than what can be gleaned from watching them play junior footy and putting them through an athletic assessment process. There is still considerable physical and emotional development that occurs after the age of 17/18. In my view this makes claims about the quality of different draft cohorts speculative at best.

It’s being driven by the media with their relentless focus on Essendon.
It sells clicks, and there’s nothing else going on in what is a pretty boring season.
The Hawks were getting a lot of focus earlier in the year but they have dropped away and it’s back to the same old Collingwood, Brisbane, Geelong yawnfest.
They need to fill the endless hours with something.

It’s ridiculous, one minute they run with how big the injury list is and in the same breath it’s how bad our performances are, there is no team in the comp that wouldnt drop well below their usual performance missing that many players, not surw how anyone can seriously judge Essendon on the last 2 months.

Not sure. Fairly sure the West Coast Eagles a few years ago were naming injured players on their emergency list.
