News Essendon list changes (Update: Neagle and Atkinson delisted)

Sorry folks but I am definitely calling bullshit on this one. Atko may have gone (he had signed a contract not so long ago confirmed elsewhere) and that Neagle had slimmed down, performing at training and having Crameri helping him get to where he's at now.

So as I say - until the club confirms it definitely...rumour only.

If its consistent, then fair enough. However if Hurley, Pears or Ryder came back a little heavier, I seriously doubt they would be delisted.

I've heard there'll be a couple more delisted, initials Jay Neagle and Jarrod Atkinson.

Have been offered rookie spots, but if not, they're off.

They were told after training today. Everyone was a little shocked, especially at Neagle.

Apparently, they came back to pre-season in poor shape, and have been late to a couple of training sessions.

All of this is via a very reputable source from here on BF.

Crap!...Not going to happen...just doesn't make sense...why now? Why not when we could have traded them or obtained a pick for them? I doubt this will eventuate...

Short term pain, but Hirdy laying down the law and letting the boys know only their best will do will only benefit EFC.

Thought Atkinson had played some good footy but from an outsiders point of view Neagle didnt appear to offer much.

Neagle would of been on thin ice reagrdless of this anyway, he's had his chances. Before everybody starts jumping on Hird, he is only one person there would be a group of people that make decisions regarding list mangement and trading.

Could we of bundled Houli and Neagle to offload??? most likely not. Remember Anthony's name was put up in trade week and no one wanted him and he has kicked 50 in a season. What has Neagle done?
Neagle may get a rookie spot but he'll have to work for it.

Interesting decision. Can't say I'm too disappointed but there are a few questions that need to be asked.

What happens to Neagle contract wise? Is he paid out in full if he isn't re-rookied?

Why did we not trade for Houli when we had the opportunity? Seems like poor list management to me.
