Not going to elaberate too much on most contracted players or players certain to stay but heres what i think.

1) Mark Johnson - hasnt had a great year. Is contracted fr next season so heres hoping he gets back to his best.
2)Ricky Dyson - Another year similar results. Great one week , not sighted the next. Is very frustrating because he has the skills and can play. He has played 34 games now so it is stand up and be counted time. I suspect he has 4 weeks to mount a solid case for next year as he will be one played who is looked at closely at the end of the year.So far he has not consistantly done enough.( and if i bothered to read that he is contracted for next season most of the above doesnt apply lol)
3) Aaron Henneman - enough has been said. Time to go.
4) Jobe Watson - Huge jump up this year. Sign him now!!
5) James Hird - Hope he plays on as a half forward. How dangerous could he be as the third string forward!
6)Angus Monfries- Upwards and onwards.
7) Dean Solomon - Must be borderline. Injuries have really hurt him. May be cut some slack through loyalty but serious questions must be asked. If he cant get his knee right he is only going to give us more average performances.May be saved by our lack of experienced backline options.
8)Jason Winderlich - Another borderline case. Was improving in leaps and bounds before his injury. If the club feels they can find a couple of better prospects in the draft his time may well be up.Could be out of Dyson and Winderlich for a spot on the list.
9) Adam Ramanauskus - i hope he comes back but he must be a risk. Will the club sign him on again? Given the strength of this draft we will want to take 5 kids. His shoulder will want to be spot on by draft time to get another contract.
10) Mark Mcveigh - re signed and playing well.
11) Damian Peverill - I have loved Pev but to be blunt there are better mid field options of the young variety. Time is up Pev.
12)Andrew Welsh - Could be a trade option but as much as he annoys me at times he is a very solid player for us.
13)Andrew Lovett - Has overcome his early/mid year troubles pretty well. Lets hope for a big 2007.
14)Jason Johnson - very poor start to the year through injury but has found form again. Unless he wants to retire he will be back next year.
15)Courtney Dempsay - Is still a couple of years of his best but the signs are good.
16)Kepler Bradley - Hasnt had the greatest year but is one player we should be keeping. May not work out as a CHB but i still think he will be a more than handy follower/forward.
17) Scott Camporeale - hopefully next year is better for him.
18) Matthew Lloyd - Champion.
19)David Hille - has been very up and down. The pressure of this year have obviously taken some toll but he does need to find a consistant level.
20) Henry Slattery - Signed on again recently :thumbsu:
21) Courtney Johns - Slowly coming good but hasnt had a great run with injuries again. The jury is still out but i don think he will make a player,
22)Tristian Cartledge - Hasnt been able to break into the side. I just dont think he will make it. Gone.
23)Mark Bolton - to his credit he hasnt been bad this year but we have had enough. Two good years in 8 seasons simply doesnt cut it.
24)Brent Stanton - Still going along nicely.
25)Scott Lucas - sign him up now. He may be given a bum wrap in certain parts of the media but he always gives us 120% deserves to be a one club player.
26)Chris Heffernan - Has dropped off a bit as the season has gone one.Lets hope he can find form again.
27) Jason Laycock - Another ordinary year with injury but he has sown enough when he has been able to play.Is an injury rik but is one worth taking.
28)Richard Cole - has had a huge uphill battle to get back on track. hopefully npw he knows what is required he will be ready to go next year.
29)Joel Reynolds - has been given a chance this year but he simply doesnt do enough for mine. Is Mark Bolton version two.No thanks.
30) Patrick Ryder - I think he has a huge upside. To have played 9 games this year has been a huge bonus and he will only get better.
31)Dustin Fletcher - champion!
32)Andrew Lee - I think he has gone ahead well this year. Had a slow start with minor injuries keeping him out of early Bendigo games but really found some form mid year. Has done enough in what is really his first year of senior footy.
33)Adam McPhee - hasnt had a great year. Lets hope we can sign him up quickly and he gets back to his best.
34)Jay Neagle - long term project but really does have a long way to go.
35)Ben Jolley - goes in hard and his VFL form has been pretty good but has he done enough overall to retain his spot? I suspect he will we very 50/50.
36)Sam Lonergan - Has been very good in the VFL. Has some areas of his game to work on and hasnt been helped by the injury worries he had early in the season. Hopefully he can gain some more fitness and play a more prominant in the midfield.
37)Austin Lucy - has come on in leaps and bounds in the VFL but still is a way off making it. Shows a lot of dash and courage but his disposal is questionable and isnt strong enough yet to handle the bigger blokes.
38)Jay Nash - may well have played himself into a spot on the list in recent weeks. Has shown he can be very good and composed in defence .
39)Heath Hocking - has had a injury interupted season but did show more than enough mid year for Bendigo to give him another year on the rookie list.
40)Matthew Firman - was a suprise rookie pick and has been really good. Another we should keep on the rookie list.
41)Tim Okeefe - Injured most of the year and will probably struggle to keep his spot.
42)Nathan Lovett-Murray - has been a bit up and down this year but he gets a pass mark.
43)Dean Rioli - Another injury plauged year. Hope he gets his two games and retires. As much as i would love to see him back at his best i think it is a longshot. Can we take another season of despare if he doesnt come up.
44)Lachlan McKinnon - a shoulder reco has cost him the whole season. Is probably a 60/40 chance of being back on the rookie list. Hard to judge given he has played no footy.

Reynolds, Henneman, Cartledge, Bolton - Adios muchachos.

Rioli retiring.

Dyson, Winderlich trade bait.

Neagle/Lucy? Might make a early and hasty decision but delist and put on rookie list?

How many do we need to clear for drafting? I'm thinking 7.

Cant delist them as they are signed on for next year, we would have to pay out their contracts for next year if we where to take them off the senior list.

Not sure Dyson or Winderlich would be trade bait, both should be back next year.

So much depends on the decisions of Hirdy and Rama, would be nice to know about both of them soon, and god, who knows about Bolton.

If it was me, Bolton, Cartledge, Rioli, Henneman and Reynolds would be definate goners. It's also 50/50 for me whether Jolley or any rookies get promoted, I'm leaning towards no, that leaves one spot to go for a PSD selection.

I'd bring back Pev, if not for depth, he's been playing good footy lately

Welsh is tradable unfortunately. I think Lee will be a better player in the long run. If Winderlich didn't get injured I think he'd have been shopped around abit as well.

Would not be suprised if henneman got nother crack at it.

Dyson needs more game time and he'll be pretty good.

Intresting.

Johns will get another go,
Lucas will for sure,
Nash,McPhee...

I am still hoping Rama will,
but I'm sure we will all find out shortly..

Slattery is going to be a bloody good player, glad he re-signed!!
But Cartledge,I couldnt see him staying either..
I could go on,but I wont...

Cant wait to see what un-folds during the trade..

He's one of the few players that we have that can actually dispose of the ball consistatly well. He has to stay. He'll be good.

Alot of people seem to be writing Dyson off for some reason:confused:

I think he will be a great player for Essendon hes got speed something that we lack abit of and has a deadly left foot!

I agree on his skill and disposal but he simply needs to find the ball 15 to 20 times week in and week out. It will be his fourth year if he gets a contract so he will need to produce. To be blunt the club does need to question where he is at and if giving another two years is the right thing to do.
I really like him as a player but he is out of contract and yet to fully establish himself which puts him in the danger area.

Off: Rioli, Solomon, Rama, Reynolds, Peverill, Bolton, Cartledge- Hird?
Rookie promoted: Jolley
Rookie retained: Hocking, possibly Firman
Is Cartledge young enough to be put on our rookie list next year? Like Geelong did with Sam Hunt?
Michael rischitelli or Graham Polak first choice as uncontracted player in PSD would be pretty good.

.

Don't think he's lost his passion for the game, and he;ll be only 29 at the start of the year. Why would he retire?

Solly and Pev will definitely stay.

You're probably right about Solly but I would trade him and give further opportunities to Lee and Bradley. If Polak was a target for us then Solly may be a bit more vulnerable.
I think Pev will be delisted and captaining Bendigo next year. My opinion is there are a couple of players who will be retained in front of him- Heff, Nash, Slattery and I think Essendon will promote Jolley. If Jolley doesnt get promoted then Pev may hang on.

Condidering the 2 poor seasons we have had and with the supposed strength of this draft we need to make tough decisions to move forward.

Solly and Pev should both move on imo, i just dont think we would get much of a trade for either of them and i doubt they would even be wanted.Hence why they will prolly stay or one,Pev, will just be delisted

I spoke to Lachlan about 2 weeks ago and I asked him whether he had a commitment from the coaching staff or the club about whether he would be given another year on the rookie list. The essence of his reply was that he had no firm commitment from them, however when he discussed with the coaching staff the option of having the shoulder reco it a was group decision for him to have the operation. He has interpretued that as meaning as long as he does everything in his power to recover properly (ie eat correctly, work and train his ass off) that they would give him another year.

He answered this question in front of several bomber fans so I have no problem repeating it in here. On a personal note I have seen Lachlan working hard in the gym a couple of times and on the surface seems like a nice bloke who wants to play football. I would give him next year on the rookie list, but the decision is not up to me now is it!

Good assessment except you were wrong on NLM. Started the season as our best defender and was excellent for the fisrt 10-12 weeks. His suspension cost him and he has lost form - but that was when we were getting smashed and most were playing ****ehouse.

Of those without a contract for next year:

Def Gone:
Cartledge (gone before the season started almost),
Reynolds (can't kick - if he could he would prob keep his spot),
Rioli (retired - thanks for the memories)

Prob Gone:
Ramma(would say def but its so hard to say that. Really whats the best he could come back as - a solid back poccket? A terrible shame),
Henno (Please let it be true),
Bolts (Please let it be true)

Poss Gone:
Hird (his decision),
Pev (depth player - 50-50 - reckon good form now will keep his spot - like JJ was playing injured this year and this did not help his cause),
Solly (reckon he stays - who would take the big guys if he were gone?),
Winderlich (all should have 1 year deals if they stay).

Definite keeps:
Bradley (2 years but give form incentive payments),
Johns(hard - prob 1 year deal with 2nd year if from warrants),
JJ (1 year contracts from here on in for him - once his body goes, and it will go quickly when it does, he will be shot),
Laycock (again 1 year deal - too injury prone needs some incentive),
Lucas(3 years),
McPhee (3 years - sign him up while he is play schite, so if he returns to form he is one we will keep payments under wraps),

Rookie promotions: None!! Depth in this draft, no point getting more bullens or Haynes type players. Nothing more than fillers that will take the list nowhere.

Draft - get a CHB. not a project player but a big strong lad. no Bradley type project players - big and strong. then get an extractor and a quick outside player. then whatever is left.

Would seriously look at someone like Polak.

please just keep sheeds away from any swans official during trade week, we'll probably trade our first 2 picks for henneman and reynolds:(

PS would you like superted back - i'd take a 3rd rounder for him at this stage!

Defienlty Delist: henno, reynolds, cartledge.
Def Retire: Rioli.

Possible retirement: Hird, rama.
Posisble delist: Peveril, Bolton, Winderlich.

If neither hird or rama retire then 2 of possibles have to go.
With possible delist i'd say to pev and bolton try to trade them with a pick in exchange for bettering a pick by 5 to ten places. Like peveril. bolton etc and pick 50 to (insert team here) for pick 30-40. That way we free up space improve our picks slightly and give loyal servants a chance to contunie their career elsewhere rather than simply delisting. I think we should be looking to free up seven spots and most likely will settle on six as someone will probably be given one last chance to prove themsleves or stay for depth.
