I think the full story was that he told Costa that he didn't see himself as a career coach and that Costa felt that Bomber's next move would be out of football and into business. Whether that's next year or further into the future no one is sure.

Anyone who saw the look on Bomber's face last night at the AAs would immediately recognise that he is extremely proud of the boys and won't be going anywhere.

The Essendon rumour is I suspect largely founded around the fact that the Dons have f*cked up the whole process. They can't turn around now and say "well, we've given up on the idea of getting Bomber (even though he hasn't committed formally to Geelong), we'll take anyone..." And if they do have to make such an announcement best to make it in the off-season rather than when the spotlight is on them. They'll be lucky to keep their jobs as it is.

He has every right to be proud of them - I would feel betrayed if he has agreed to go to Essendon - but such things have happened before. It will not distract me - Essendon supporters have no team in the finals to follow at the moment and this is probably a bit of michief to fill in time!

Word from the west is sumich is having second meeting with essendon so it looks like they are going to try and get a coach on board ASAP - probably before Bomber and Williams laugh in their faces. Who would want to coach the essendon rabble with players like mcphee and hill ? - Their young players have been built up by sheedy to make him look good before he left, but they are average to good at best. Sumich will get the job cause the dons will think it helps their chances at getting judd - but judd has already ruled essendon out by declaring he wants to go to a "GOOD" team..

According to Healy and Wilson, Peter Sumich impressed the Bombers hierarchy at his interview to the point where he is a big chance to get the nod.
