Obviously Fletch has an injury so he needs a week or 2, but we have GWS, Melbourne and Sydney and then the bye.
Obviously we should convincingly beat GWS and Melbourne, but Sydney will be a harder game, in final result and physical fitness.
I think the next 3 weeks are more about maintaining the fitness of our key players and not suffering any injuries to Watson, Hocking, Ryder etc regardless of results.

Id like to see McVeigh, Kavenagh and Pears play against GWS and Melbourne just so they get some game time at the AFL level. The team is strong enough to cover any resting players IMO. Myers and Colyer also need a full game.

After they bye we should be set up for the next 4-6 weeks, after that its unpredictable.

It's hard to weigh up the benefits of resting vs keeping a run on going (knowing there is only 3 weeks to go anyway).

There are a lot of skinny kids playing for GWS that won't hit as hard as other teams. Players like Melksham should stay in to get some touch back.

Good chance to bring Kavanagh in against some smaller bodies. You could also justify giving him 3 games to get a feel for it with GWS, Melb and Syd.

Hocking more than anyone (not injured) else looked like he could do with a break. Who is there to tag though? maybe run him around on the ball.

Out: Fletcher, Hardingham, Hocking
In: Pears, Myers, Kavanagh,

Counter-point: How'd resting players work out for Geelong last year?

Nothing wrong with resting a handful of players over the next couple of weeks if it'll help our performance against Sydney

Difference is that Geelong would rest one player each week - Not five for one game.

It's how you do it that is important.

Team has the bye in 3 weeks!

Stuff this resting bullshit. T
They recover well enough now to get their bodies right for the next game the following week.

Bye is in 3 weeks.

Forced changes only.

Agreed although players are working harder than ever I'm still not the biggest fan of flirting with form IMO forced changes only but maybe and that's a big maybe rest someone if they are really struggling none of this resting 5 players rubbish.

3 games?! What extravagance is this?

Unless you're a ready-made golden boy, you get two games as a sub maximum. Then it's back to the Russian Front.

So he has a great game 2 weeks ago, a poor game yesterday and we drop him?

Yeah nah

I personally haven't seen a "great game" from Melks yet this year - if you have you're easily pleased.

I'm actually a Melksham fan I think he has a ton of ability I just think with the selection pressure and depth we have atm why not demand quality it's not about earning charity selection every week. If we're going to be serious about being in contention we need to be a bit harsh. I just think thd kid needs to bulk up his confidence levels up again. Just my opinion.

No rush to see Kav for mine at this stage, he will be brought along steadily and has not played a lot of footy recently.

I would not like to see too many changes. Lets not start awarding games to everyone and resting too many as it can stuff with form and structure.

Pears for Fletch.

Someone for Hardingham if he does not come up.

I don't want to see many changes. Fletch and Hardingham are obvious.

If we were to rest anyone I wouldn't mind seeing Heppell and/or Hocking rested. Hepp hasn't missed a game since round 1 2011 and Buddha has looked buggered the last couple of weeks. He's had some massive jobs recently. But we have a bye in three weeks so with his week off with concussion he should be able to get through.

In: Pears, Myers, Colyer
Out: Fletcher, Hardingham, Heppell

Those who are saying there will be minimal changes obviously haven't been listening to the coach who is saying there will definitely be a few players given a rest. Id say it will be something like:

OUT: Fletch, Crameri, Hocking, Heppell
IN: Pears, McVeigh, Colyer, Slattery/Reimers

McVeigh Hooker Hardingham
Pears Carlisle Dempsey
Dyson Watson Melksham
Monfries Hurley Jetta
Colyer Ryder Davey

T.Bell Stanton Zaka

Bench: Howlett Lonergan NLM
SUB: Slattery/Reimers

not sure hocking needs a rest - out of essendon's midfield he's played the least amount of minutes having been subbed off and missed with concussion. if anything he probably needs the match minutes to get the miles in his legs.

This is pretty much what I'd expect although wouldn't be totally supprised to see a fifth out (someone we don't realise has been carrying an injury).

half of you lot are going on like the next two weeks are training runs.... rememeber Melbourne beat us last year when they were going pretty bady.. remember 'bruise free football' ?

i'd like to not get too complacient... we have a bye coming up too, theres a rest for all right there.

Out Fletcher and Hardingham inj. Watson looked seriously proppy on sat night, is he carrying something?

in pears, colyer, hibberd (if fit).

I think we'll see four or five changes.

Not sure about the outs but the ins will be: McVeigh, Pears, Colyer, Reimers and maybe Slattery.

I think Dell'Olio might be ahead of Reimers in the pecking order. I agree with most of that though, the INS will come from McVeigh, Pears, Colyer, Dell'Olli, Slattery, Myers and Reimers.

I don't think there are any VFL matches this weekend so this needs to be kept in mind if they want say Colyer playing a full match etc - he'll have to do it at AFL level.

Pears and Colyer wil come in for Dusty and Jetta.

Maybe one of Howlett or Lonergan will get a rest. McVeigh/Reimers to come in.

If Hardingham doesn't come up, maybe Ariel will game get a game by default. * Key word maybe, Ariel is a looooooooooong way off AFL level.
