Once again we've been exposed.... badly.

FFS why was Johns selected.

We are playing on the G against a good running side in tricky conditions and we've gone in top heavy..... FFS.

They used the exact same gameplan against us in the first round and once again in the second. We did nothing to counter the wall they put up across half back..... FFS.

MJ, Monfries got exposed again on the big ground and there wasn't enough running support to help out the others.

Skills were shocking but thats more in part to the pressure the Hawks put us under.

No hit up half forward again... been killing us all year.

For me the most disappointing thing was how obvious Haw game plan is. Everyone knows that they cover the middle and set up a defensive zone that forces the opposition team to kick where Haw want it (along the boundary and where they have the numbers).

Surely our coaching department having seen the tapes, would've picked this up???

Having said that we looked disinterested, skils were embarassing and our decision making was 1/10.

In hindsight we went in to top heavy, not enough runners.....

Or was there too many runners not doning enough? Winders,Lovett,Rama all pretty quiet. Hawthorn, Coll, Geel all have multiple targets to kick in the forward line. We have Lloyd and Lucas sometimes leading 70 metres up the ground just to get a kick. If one of them gets beaten or has a quiet day its left to Monfries, Welsh, McVeigh to provide leading targets. Not enough options.

He looked shocking in the warm up today. He did the one foot jumping excercise thing off one foot only, and he looked sore. I was surprised he played. I thought he might have been doing the warm up as a last minute fitness test that's how sore he looked.

Went in way too top heavy.. Should've been no changes from last week. Lovett did bugger all as well. Gumby should've played.. May have been a Sheedy masterstroke on Frankin instead of Ryder (who hasn't done much for a few weeks now either).

I've just got home, via The Corner and The Geebung (Hawthorn) hotels, and I caught up with a mate who's part of the Hawks leadership group and he was telling me how little they think of Essendon in both skills and character. He also made mentioned that they'd beaten Sheedy in their last 5 games.

Mate, you dont need skill to play in those conditions, any suburban coach could have done better than sheedy today at least they would have got told too kick long and direct in those shit conditions as Hawthorn did. But no sheedy is too fu$$$$$en smart isnt he, pussy foot around handballing, little chip passes, going wide just stuffing around with it trying to be fancy. Look how the hawks go a lot of their Goals "BANG STRAIGHT IN" putting the backs under extreme pressure.
Of all the people who should know better has lost the plot. You guys will be better served when he goes

For one, finals are not gone. The next three games are each winnable and that would carry us to 12 wins and give us some hope.

For two, we were not outplayed today until the last quarter. We made our own errors. We got plenty of the ball and simply wasted it away without holding any structure. There was only one area where we were genuinely beaten, that being at the fall of the ball.

What we have to do is sharpen up. Our skills aren't that bad, minds just need to switch on. If Sheedy starts bringing in every kid on the list and sends guys like Lucas and Fletcher away to get their bodies right, I'd be appalled. Once we've lost two more games, fine but whilst there's light, there's hope and I hope the club takes a similar stance.

You were clearly outplayed all day bar the first 15 minutes and were lucky to be within striking distance at 3/4 time. The final margin was actually flattering to you guys as it should have been at least 4-5 goals more.
